Should be 6.5" speakers front and rear. But they're shallow, so you might need to space the new speakers out.

Im going to get the proper Honda garage to fit them to be honest, as they will do a better job than me, lol.

How do you mean 'space them out'? So I cant buy normal one's? or I could with some adapter? Sorry for the numbness, but I havent a clue!

Cheers mate

You can go to a shop and get them installed for $35 or less, and the spacer rings are like $10. For aftermarket installation (like fcm said, if they'll even touch it) will cost you minimum 2 hours... My local Honda dealership charges about $70 an hour.

I got my headunit fitted at a honda garage (not a honda one, a pioneer), and their's was one of the cheapest I found that did it, lol.

But yeah, I think a proper audio garage would be the way to go thinking about it, cheers.

So, if I bought some 6.5" normal size speakers, what else would I need to buy for the garage to wack them straight in? I dont really fancy the garage cutting up the panel to be honest, Id rather just leave the standard speakers in.

OR

is there a guide somewhere which can show me how to get the panels (front and rear) off? As ive had a look, and it didnt look like there were any screw etc? or are you suppose to wedge a flat head screwdriver under some where?

Thanks for your help

If you're going to do it yourself, you'll need to get a panel popper tool to remove the door panels. The rears are more complicated (even MORE complicated if you've got a 2 door) so might just wanna let a pro do the rears if your sketchy on removing the panels in the back half of your car.. lol...

As far as what you'll need, go to any stereo shop and get the speaker harnesses for your car. That way, it'll be plug and play, and you won't have to cut any wires or worry about phasing the speaker correctly. And they're only $6 a pair.

You don't need that special tool to remove the door panels. You should do it yourself as it takes like 10 minutes and is basically just unscrewing stuff and screwing new stuff in. Go to http://www.crutchfield.com and it will tell you what the speaker sizes are. I installed them myself and have removed the door panels numerouse times for various things. Just unsrew the screws then it will be held on by plastic things that snap it to the door. Take a flat head screw driver and put a cloth over it and up it under the door panel and just pull out to unsnap the panel. Start at the bottom and go around the bottom and sides then just take the panel off. If you do break the plastic things you can probably get more for $1 or so but I have never broken them and others I know have done it without breaking them just don't yank really hard. Then you just get the wiring harness. Unscrew the speakers pull them out. Plug in the harness then plug it into the speaker then hold the new speaker in the slot and screw it in. I think you may be able to get them installed for $35 but a lot of places I have found charge more than that but I Wouldn't pay aymore than $10 as it is very easy. The rear speakers on my accord were even easier as you just unscrewed the grill from inside the trunk then took the speaker out and put the new ones in and connected the wiring harness. I would do it yourself.

I don't know if your in the US but if you are if you buy from crutchfield they give you the wiring and stuff to install it free. I installed my HU myself also which is also very easy but a little harder than the speakers. Personally I think if you try to do it yourself you will find it a lot easier than you thought.

Im from the UK.

Been talking to my mate tonight, and like you hometheaterman he suggests having a go myself. On the panels there isnt 1 single screw to undo, so i guess I have to pop it like you suggested! I know the actual replacing of the speaker wont be too hard, as if they are screwed thats no probs, and if the wires are soldered thats fine, as Im ok at that.

Will let you know how I get on

Wiring the amp wire is gonna anoy me, lifting the carpet etc lol

There should be at least one screw behind the handle if I'm not mistaken...

Yeah my accord had a scew in the door handle and one in the pocket in the door where you would rest your arm. They had covers over them though and screws under that.

Once you take those door panels off, there is a 6.5" speaker there. The only thing is, it has a super shallow magnet. For these cars I usually cut the metal around where the factory speaker mounts to compensate for a normal 6.5" speaker. Your better off having an install shop do them. Rear speakers are even more fun in your car....you basically have to take apart the whole back of the car.

Well ive decided for the time being that im gonna leave them as standard....I know they arent up to much, but when Ive got my sub in (nearly finished), I can turn the bass down on the standard speakers which will not ask as much from them, so in theory should sound ok!

Cheers for you help guys
