Question about adding VTEC wiring inside 95 DX wiring harness *PICS*
I've been preparing everything on my hatch for my dohc vtec swap here soon, and I am trying to do everything clean and the best I can.
I've spent all of tonight redoing my 95 dx wiring harness to add vtec and just plain clean it up. I stripped off all the old electrical tape, cleaned most of the plugs, and now I'm ready to add vtec. I want the vtec wiring ran inside of the harness.
My question is where is the best place to route the vtec wires to? I want them to be in the original location as if this was a Z6 wiring harness.
Here are some pics, it would be cool if someone could just use photoshop or paint to draw where I should route the vtec wires. I would appreciate it greatly

This is what the harness looks like on the side that I'm done with

bump... how would you guys route the wires. I was thinking vtec wires need to go near the dizzy plugs, and the knock sensor needs to go near the oil pressure sensor? is this a good location for them? also what about the evap purge wiring? Is it necessery?
thanks
thanks
whatwould be really good if you lengthened all the wires so that u could hide them all and make it look really clean, but it looks good so far

how would I go about this? I have a spare harness to steal all the wires from so that wouldn't be an issue. Where would I need to lengthen and is it true that I need to lengthen the o2 wires?
Sorry for all the questions, but my swap hasn't arrived from HMO yet, so I can't really test fit it to see where it needs to be changed

well you can start by hiding all the wires that go to your headlights etc. that run along the sides of your engine bay. you can run them through your fenders..this requires cutting and extending them though..there are many ways to go about hiding wires, just use your imagination.
then you can hide stuff like your coolant overflow, take out un-needed stuff such as A/C etc..then your engine bay will be bling bling!!

what youshould do is take that spare harnessand plug it in but non of the plugs and find how much wire u need to add to each connector to hide it thoroughly, then take that wire solder it into the harness and wrap it up completely in electrical tape so the wires arent exposed and then hide em, this can take a long time just so youkno though, i plan on doing it very soon cause it looks soooooo clean
While you have the harness out and apart you shouldn't need to extend the O2 sensor wires, if they are in the wrong place then just pull the wires back through the harness and relocate the plug where you want it, tape it back in. No soldering required...
I don't know what all this jibberish with the "lengthen wires so you can hide them" stuff, and hiding headlight wiring, I don't see how that has anything to do with your question at all. Anyways, only lengthen wires if you have to in order to reach something, then just finish it off like you have been, looks like you're doing a good job putting it back together...
Also you don't need to run anything back to the battery and down to the ecu, ignore that. The section of harness that attaches to the ecu already has the VTEC wiring in it, you just need to add the wires to the harness you have right there that attaches to the dash side at the shock tower. It would be nice if you had the motor so you could build the harness right on it to make sure all your branches were long enough and in the right place. Perhaps you should wait to complete it until you have the motor...

You had better double check this on your Main Wire harness. My 94 CX does not have the two wires associated w/ vtec. I had to buy some used ecu & shock tower plugs to salvage these individual pins. Then I connected the two ends together by soldering wire in place. Only the 92 civic Non Vtec's have complete vtec main wire harnesses...

Hmm, just going by what's been said 1000 times...my 94 already had VTEC so it wasn't an issue, and the 98 I got now is all one-piece anyways. Guess whoever's doing the swap needs to double check their exact harness to be sure either way...
