ok... realizing this is your first post....

things to learn about h-t. (honda-tech)

read the forum rules.

which means, "do a search" (top right of your window)

hopefully the rest of the ppl @ h-t won't flame you to ashes...

to answer your question... it depends on your goals for you exhaust.

the n1 exhaust is significantly louader than the rs-r. also its piping is larger. so it depends on your aims. the rs-r looks more stock. if you want to go FI (force induction) i think the rs-r is out of the picture.

good luck with your car, and welcome to honda-tech!

The N1 is nasty. Its raspy and loud. But I am a firm believer in custom exhaust piping mated to the muffler of your choice. Its usually cheaper, someone does it for you, and you don't have to worry about why it doesn't fit right or why its rattling.

tell us ur aims of getting the exhuast first, and then better advice can be given.

in regards to sack masters post, im a bit 'iffy' about getting custom work done, after the first full custom zorst system from a popular custom shop was more than.. ummm crap.

there was bad droning in the cabin. seemed like the whole cabin was vibrating and droning more. but yeah. gl.

exactly what i did. I bought an es oval for 100, took it to a custom muffler shop and they put on 2.5 inch downpiping with a resonator and cat for about 100 bucks.

he's talking about the rs*r gt2, not the exmag. the gt2 is the slanted, straight through design with the cannister-style muffler. it should be as loud if not louder than the n1.

first tiem i've ever heard bad comments about an APEXi exhaust... but i also have all of my exhausts custom made, but you have to find a good shop, cause i've seen some custom made exhausts that look, well..., like ****, no better way to put it. it is garbage and i've been trying to get him to have one remade at the place i take all of mine for months now...

I second that. The hyper medallion is also a pretty quiet exhaust. The N1 is too loud and the piping hangs pretty low.

N1 comes with mild steel piping which is ***. At least get stainless so the thing lasts. I don't really know too much about these exhausts, I have never owned one of them that has been mentioned, but I do like the one I went with.

I see that you're a fellow CALI4nian...
Let me tell you one thing. If you can see the muffler out of your car and it's super shiny, be prepared to get hassled by cops and in most cities, have your hood popped open.

When I was N/A, I had a custom 2.5" exhaust with a magnaflow muffler. Not too loud but shiny as hell. I've gotten 2 exhaust tickets because of it.

Now, I switched to the darkside and I was worried about my setup and if a cop saw it, there's a chance I'd get a referee ticket. I'm also running a 3" exhaust cutout, so I immediately looked for a stock setup and got one for $50...cat back.

It's much safer this way for me. But this is my setup. I'm just trying to open up a door for you.

Thanks for all the good comments, I think I'm gonna go with the RS-R GT2, and it sounds like a lot of people here now what there talking about and that's good for a beginner(like myself).
