will the dealer release maintenance records?
like title says. i just want to check up on the R. from what the owner tells me, just about everything that has been done, has been worked on by the acura dealer. possibly good for me. owner doesnt seem to have any records. all i know is that maybe the clutch is still under warantee (replaced like 10K miles ago).
i am holdin the car now, but the title hasnt been signed over as of yet.
im sure if i go up there with the title it should be ok, but that might take a while to get the title.
while the R is sitting, i wanna see what i need to replace.
the owner told me the timing belt has been changed, but the water pump needs changing, now i thought those things go hand in hand.
i already replaced the rubber seals around the trunk, and pass. door.
hopefully next should be valve cover seals and simple things i can get done.
perhaps a motor rebuild in the future. 120,000 original miles. still runs gewd.

That answers the question of which dealer has access to the service records. (Incidentally, ANY Acura dealer can tell you about any work that was done under recalls and other TSBs, but as noted here, only the servicing dealer has records for routine maintenance and other paid repairs.)
If you're asking whether the servicing dealer would be willing to release those service records, I would think that some dealers are, and some aren't (and perhaps some are willing but only with the owner's permission). Just guessing here; my experience has been that most dealers are willing to give you the history (or to look things up for you) if you explain the situation and ask nicely.

cool thanx. i think my best bet would be to just go up there with proof of our "bill of sale" and tell them im buying/bought the car.
Any Acura dealership can pull up your records for your car. When I bought mine in Chicago and took it to Goodson in Dallas, they were able to pull up everything on my car. Just buddy buddy up with the serivce guys and they'll tell you everything.

That's only true on warranty type work, not on routine maintenance. For example, Goodson in Dallas cannot pull up records on a timing belt change done at a dealership in the Chicago area.
