Default Paint my prelude

My uncle told me if i bought the paint for my car he would paint it for me. i was wondering how much paint and clearcoat i would need, and how much i could count on it costing.

i want to paint it either nighthawk black pearl - what it is now

or some really high gloss black.

let me know where i can get these paints, and how much they should cost. thanks for your help.

It really depends on how much you want to spend (depending on quality of the paint, 1-stage or 2-stage, etc.) But just for argument sake, I repainted mine a couple years ago and paint cost me around $300, that was a higher end grade PPG paint purchased at the local auto body/paint mixing place. 2qt color, 1qt clear. If your uncle is versed enough to be painting it though, he should know where, what kind he wants to shoot, etc. If not, you might be better off taking it to Maaco.

he's a good painter. he painted my dads corvette, and his truck. both look great. I just wanted to see if you knew where i could get some really good high gloss black. i also want to make sure i have enough clearcoat to do 2 coats.

you will be taking the paint, and diluting it to put into the sprayer.

probably about 2 qts, and dont worry about the gloss, the clear coat will do that.

about 4 qts i would assume for that.

be sure to get some extra just incase for future scratches and if you ever have an accident or whatever....this way you can repaint only the damaged parts with matching paint instead of having a 2 tone black paint job
