I need some new tires and these two were in my price range plus seem to have good reviews. However, do anyone have any experience with neither of these tires? how is the tread life, wear, noise, handling, etc.,??? I was suprise that the falcon ziex 512 came in #1 in the consumer report review.....I used a set of ziex 502 and didn't really like them...

 

I had 712s, and I hated them. After 1 autocross, the tread started coming off in chunks. And they didn't have that great of dry traction.

 

i used to have 712s and i think they sucked because mines started to bubble up like those cheap basketballs from swapmeet

 

512's wasted way too quick

 

Im in the same boat, friend. Looking to get new tires, need them badly. Actually have been debating between the Kumho 712's and the Falken FK-451's. Two friends of mine said the Kumho's work great, have great traction, but the life of the tire is only around 20k miles. (I dont know what your purpose for tires are, mine are for daily driving, better handling, etc. Not for track use or racing functions...) They said they worked great in the rain, but that they wear quickly and that once they do wear, the belts start to show quickly as well...so change them fast.

I spoke to someone about the Falken 451's at Discount Tire Direct, they said they were tested in Europe a couple of years ago and were the highest rated tire all around after the tests came back. Not sure from experience or word on the street though.

Personally, Im leaning towards the Kumho's, Ive heard them all over the place about their performance being good, just their tread life being poor. I guess I can deal with that, as long as they perform. I mean they're only $70 each too...not a bad deal...

 

id recommed the 712's i have them and am extremely satisfied with them never had any probs with them what so ever great traction. the 712's are a better tire the 512's are all season also the 712's are not
