i got 250 to spend on a head unit, any suggestions? any you recommend and any to stay away from?

 

Avoid Aiwa.
Avoid Sony unless it's a Moble ES.
Avoid anything found at Walmart.

Other than that visit the local sound shop and play with them. The specs of most HU's over $200 are relatively similar, so base your decision on factors such as future expandability, layout, how well it matches your car's interior, etc.

 

I just bought an Alpine 7875, haven't installed it yet. I'll let you know when I do though! It looks really cool.

I recommend the JVC digifine sh99 for under 300 ...it's in your price range... you wanted MP3 support right?

If not, get the Clarion ProAudio HX-D10... If you wanted MP3, you could get the Mp3 with CLarion, but the JVC has some features that the Clarion does not have...

You'll find that those are the best deals in the price range...positive about that...
