Default Questions on the 4wd 5-door models...

Been thinking about these interesting Civics. I live in Utah...so, there is plenty of snow and mountain roads to have fun on. The Integra (DA9) does pretty well. But, a 4-door relatively light Civic would be fun. Better than a CRV and cheaper. No, I really didn't search. So, I have a few questions:

1. What is the chassis code, which D-series motor was available with it? And the power output?

2. Is an engine swap possible with the 4wd set-up. If not a B-series. Would a turbo D-series be a good idea?

3. Are they available with a manual trans? And is it a good one...will it handle more power(as well as the rear diff)?

4. What type of rear differential is there? If more power was an issue, I wonder if the clutch-pack diff from a CRV could be swapped out.

5. Suspension set-up?

6. Anyone own one of these?

Well, thanks for the help...Anything is appreciated. I think I may have a project to start next spring.

-Jeff

have no idea on the chassis code, but given a 88-91 car, motor is a D16A6.

B-series won't bolt to the D-series tranny, so that's out. but folks are running DOHC ZCs and SOHC VTEC motors with the 4wd tranny.

yeah, they could be had with a "6-speed," though one of those gears is a superlow granny gear.

i have no idea.

again, speaking for 88-91, essentially similar to same years hatch/crx. some differences in rear shocks/springs, but easy to work around.

hahaha my friends and I were talking the other night about buying one for a swap. That would qualify as quite possibly the best sleeper car out there. Who would ever think that the civic wagon revving next to you has a ZC turbo...

Good hook up too with the 4WD... if you actually do this put up project thread I would love to see this.

well, we'll see. it's either this or make the integra into a rally-machine/daily-driver.

but, a boosted 4wd civic wagon would be fun. haul some camping stuff in it.

it'd be alot cheaper than buying a new CR-V, which is my other option.

one of the guys on the Civic Wagon Evolution board has (or had, don't remember) a turbo ZC RT4WD.
