Apexi V-AFC
i drive an 00 itr with an AIM CAI as my only mod. i realize the intake adds little to no increase in power but would tuning my car with the V-AFC get me more horses out of my intake?
I don't understand why some people continue to say it doesn't give much power ......
maybe it's the '00 or '01 brains... but on my '97 it showed a healthy jump in midrange and definately picked up some power on the top end.
This was especially evident when when I had installed the older Spoon 2pce 4-2-1 header, Spoon testpipe, and Zigen BorderSpeed 304 N1 exhaust.... the difference between stock intake vs AEM was quite pronounced...and it wasn't just sound....since the 304 drowned out everything anyway.....haha
The graph below shows my car with AEM plus testpipe as the major breathing mods....
it has a 2pce headgasket, timing was set at a conservative 17deg, tapered Tbody, Spoon ground type plug wires, and that is it.
No provisions to adjust fuel pressure, no camgears, no ECU tuning....
The stock baseline was taken in 97.... ignore the modlist listed at the top because we forgot to input the correct mod list during the printout.
Special thanks again to G3-TEG for the wee bit of analysis here....

AIM intake? Aol is making everything these days.
Just playing.
To really get more power with a VAFC, you'll have to get more for your car then just an intake. Such as cam gears, header.

There was a guy on here the other day that posted his dyno plots and he got some nice #'s out of his AEM and V-AFC. I think he dynoed 165hp stock and ended up with 177hp by the time he ws done.
I think it is almost time for me to go to the dyno as well.
