Default testing waters: 1990 Nissan Skyline GT-R, Utah

I am considering selling my car for financial reasons (new baby, and wife quit her job, plus some consumer debt = killing me). The car is a Gunmetal Grey 1990 Nissan Skyline GT-R. It currently has 55k miles on it (speedo converted to read in MPH, and reset to correct miles vs km's). I had the car imported from Japan in April 2003. It has gone a 12.7 @ 110mph at the drag strip in Las Vegas, and a 12.8 @ 109mph at the dragstrip here in Utah, Rocky Mountain Raceway.

The car is titled and registered here in Utah as a 1990 Nissan Skyline GT-R (no kit car, or vin swap 240sx bullshit). For those who are seriously interested in buying the car, I can fax you a copy of the title to take to your DMV so you can make sure there will be no problems transferring it. I've had 2 other individuals approach me in the past 6 months about buying the car and they took the copy of my title to two separate DMV offices in California and they were told it would be no problem to transfer the Utah title to California.

On top of the price of the car, the retail value of all the modifications I have listed below is above $15k. Read that, *ON TOP* of the value of the car in stock condition, I have a good amount of money into the car in modifications. It's not like aftermarket parts for Skylines grow on trees either. Each of these parts took a good deal of time and effort to track down and get.

My asking price is $35k, but I am open to reasonable offers. Do not insult me please. I am not really interested in a trade, unless it is for an US spec Evo 8, STi, or a RHD vehicle imported from Japan already.

You can email me at trevor@t24ever.com or PM me here or post here if you are interested.

you'd have to check with the California DMV about smog issues. I have no clue. all i know is that the California DMV has looked at the Utah title for my car, and told two separate individuals that they will have no problem titling and registering the car in California.

as far as insurance goes, I am with Progressive and they charge me $200 to insure the car with a $500 deductible (comprehensive & collision) every 6 months. I am only 24 years old, and I have a bad driving record too (lots of tickets). No need to worry about getting it insured.

make your dreams a reality by making me an offer i can't refuse. my bottom line for this car is a good bit less than what i am asking.

Probably because it's way out of anyone's price range. I know with what you put in and the rarity of the car, it's close to your asking price but what sucks is anyone buying it won't have the 'warranty' of a 30k+ car nor the luxury of feeling safe....scared of parts breaking or worse, getting parts jacked.

Anyone who would buy this would probably have to have enough cash to have this car as a 'toy car' on the side that keeps in garaged most of the time and pull it out for weekend fun. I know I'm personally not well off enough to buy a 30k toy car.

Nonetheless, that is a beautiful car and one of my dream cars. It's just too bad that they have to cost so much...

thank you. and you are correct, it is important that if you buy this car, that you have enough $$$ to maintain it and fix it if you do end up breaking it. really not that much money to maintain and fix though, lots of parts are available stateside.

i don't really have to sell it. i could keep it for another year or however long I want. i just thought maybe i should pay off some credit cards for now by selling it. financially though, i'm not that strapped.

any offers?

Why not just list it on eBay?
