Default Integra Timing - Need SCS Service Connector?

I'm about to replace the distributor on my 1996 integra (SE) and the manual says to use the SCS service connector to do the timing. This connector appears to be a tool that you have to buy from dealer or online (and is out of stock at most places). In order to do the timing, is this tool necessary or can I just use a wire to jump the connector?

A wire or paper clip to jump the connector is all that is necessary.
