might be getting an s2k but... a few???
Hey guys I almost traded in my CL and bought an s2000 yesterday. Probably gonna do it this week, I just have to check how much my insurance is gonna go up
Also I have a few ???'s for you guys.
Anyway, the car is an 01 with 40K miles for 22 grand. Seem resonable? It is a dealership, so it's probably a little high, but oh well cause it is certified and has the 100K warrantee still. BTW-silver w/red int.
heres my real questions.
1) when I drove it, the gears didn't really go in all that smooth, seemed real crunchy for a car thats broken in. Is this normal???
2) when I was in gear slightyly accelorating, and my left foot was resting on the clutch, if I let my foot off the gas I could feel a heavy vibration, (almost grinding) on my left foot through the clutch. ? Felt really weird. What do you think that could be???
Overall, I loved driving that car! It felt a HELL of a lot faster than the WRX I drove right after for some reason. ? I know it's a little quicker, but it felt much faster. Driving an s2k is kinda hard to explain, but you just feel like a straight pimp
Which is the only reason keeping me from just getting a brand new rsx-s dropping 1G for i,h,#4 and being just as fast
thanks in advance for any responses. Hopefully i'll be a regular here soon

Well first of all, why are you trading in your CL? Dealers rape you on their "trade-in" values. Sell your CL by yourself first. Secondly, yea, 22k is a little high for a 3 year old S with 40k, they can be found cheaper, but a warranty is nice, I opted for this route when buying my last car (although will never do it again). Third, why are you resting your foot on the clutch when driving anyway? You like burning clutches up? And from what I understand, that "Crunchy" feeling while shifting is normal, just not what you're used. Hope that helped
That vibration you felt with your clutch foot is the clutch disc springs. They rattle when you are decelerating from about 4k rpms to 2k. It's normal, pretty much all of them do it. As far as the crunching gears, There are a few service bulletin's about 2nd gear syncro's. The price is a little high I think. I just bought my 2000 from a honda dealer with the 100k certified warranty with 45k mile for $20k. If you could get them to come down on the price some I would buy it if I were you. If there is something wrong with it after you buy it you can just get it fixed under warranty.
