Default S2000 Oil Filter

Has anyone put a S2000 oil filter on their H22?

I have one on my '01 SH, but I haven't had it out on the track yet. I know all the V8 guys always say get the biggest oil filter that will fit on you car. The only thing I'm worried about is, with the larger capacity of the S2K filter I'm worried that'll I'll get the oil starvation problem when turning left at the track. Other than that, it fits and seals up great.

if you dont have an oil pressure gauge then i HIGHLY suggest getting one, especially if you are going to run a larger filter. put the gauge in the car and then watch it closely, or have a friend watch it while you take a few good turns. if you arent running lower then normal then i would say keep it. but do a comparison with both filters to make sure. also are you running a honda filter or other manufacturer?

I would reccomend using the s2000 filter also I have been using them for a few years now. Ihave had no problems. Honda stopped making the olderstyle and is using the smaller filters they both work I just feel more comfortable with the s2000 style personal preference. Also didnt notice and differnce in trying the filters with oil pressure so either way u should be good 2 go

Piece of mind.

A bigger filter has a larger filtering surface, so you should get better filtration.

So the S2000 filter is smaller than the OEM Honda Prelude filter??

I was lookin for a smaller filter a while back; it SHOULD give a slight bump in oil pressure.

the s2k is the older model looking filter which is shorter but fatter, the newer non-s2k filters are longer but skinnier

NO! That is it, I was bored at work and did an oil pressure test since your so smart you already know the results, but for those of you who dont know it was the fairly same. the s2000 filter is alot wider so it has higher campacty to filter more, not nessacary in any aspect or honda would have reccomended them for the prelude also not just the s2000

i never said i was smart...i just thought there was more of an in depth reason why some1 would rather use the larger filter...sorry if you took it the wrong way

so now i know the results were the same, so now i know its not worth to use the bigger filter...

More surface area = always a good thing. What I don't like about the dinky, can-o-beans filters that Honda unfiormally reccomends is that I don't like the idea of minimizing , or even reducing, the efficency of my oil filter to reduce/catch/stop small dirt partciles and other misc. **** from getting into my engine/oil supply/oil jets, etc. It's a small price to pay, for added piece of mind; if Honda puts a different, more efficent filter on their most developed "sports car" then I'd say there's good reason to use that filter, in an application where your car sees 60-70% wide open throttle, lateral loads close to, or slightly over 1 G in addition to ambient and operataional temps in, what some would classify as "extreme" for 6- 8 hours a day.

So, you're right, it's my preference to minimize the risk of chucking my motor, by using a "better" filter than the one intended for Mrs. Jones and here groecery getter.

Nope I didnt take it the wrong way its honda-tech relax , It does have bigger filter (s2000) If I get bored again I'll cut the filters and unravel the filtering element inside the filter and put up mesurements
