Default Opening up combustion chambers to match 84mm+ bores really required?

Will there be a large power loss if the combustion chamber was not matched to the port?

Does it have anything to do with reliability?

if you dont do it, you'll have a nice sharp edge going around the whole combustion chamber. detonation loves sharp edges. that's where it starts.

only reason honda didn't go with a 84mm chamber on the b20 is because it's such low compression.

if you're sticking with stock CRV pistons, then it might not be necessary.. but why even bother if you're not going higher compression or FI?
