Whoo Hoo... I am getting a new crx si !!!
Well I have been saving up my money for the past couple of months so I could do a zc swap into my rex,but the other day I just happened to check out the classified section of the newspaper and saw a 89 crx si for $1,900. Well I called up the guy and he said that he had lowered the price to $1,200, so I went on over to his house to check it out. It is in pretty good condition 152,000 miles on it has a crack on the windshield, a small dent in the hood, but otherwise it is in good condition. While talking to the guy he said that he was moving to seattle in a week and really needed to sell the car as fast as possible, so I haggled a little and got him to accept $1,100. I am going first thing in the morning to get the money out of the bank then go pick it up. I am going to just switch my aem intake, dc headers, exhaust, and wheels over to the si then sell my other crx. Then comes the big question of what to do with the money I get from the other rex. I am thinking of either swapping in a zc and turboing it, I might even get a b16 instead if I make enough from selling the other rex. I am hella stoked right now
I can't believe I am getting one for so cheap, I took it out for a test drive and even had a friend who is a mechanic check it out. Only thing wrong is it needs a new clutch. The guys who are selling it were smoking pot when i got there, maybe thats why they lowered the price even more.

**** i bet Drag II can vouch for me. There are hella cheap CRX's around our way. I look on AutoTrader every now and again at them. Tons of people have CRX's they use for the daily commute to DC, and they are selling them all the time for dirt cheap cause they could care less about the car. I'm talking below 1,000 some times for a decent CRX

Waddap People, I just joined the group tonight, finally found another Civic Forum. Well, this topic caught my attention, so I have to tell you guys the deal that I found, I already own a Civic 90 LX, 4-door, with the 1.5 engine, I was looking around here, and I found a Civic CRX 1991 (90?) SI for $450 Flat. The only problem was that it was previously stole, and the dashboard was destroyed (big woops), they guy who owns it is 67 years old!!, origianal owner, no rust anywhere, and only 43K miles.
You all are not gonna believe this. Last night when I went to test drive the car I noticed imediately how it pulled so hard compared to my crx with the d15b2, I was trying to look at the engine last night but it was dark and I really couldn't see that good even with a flashlight. So I just said what the heck, then when I went back this morning I was checking out the paperwork that the guys had given me, while going through i came across a receipt from some auto shop saing that the engine had been replaced at 116,000 miles, so I poped the hood and took a look, and there was a zc sitting in there. It is the one with the black valve cover, does anyone know the specs on this one? Well I guess I will not have to do a swap, I will just go get a complete tune up oil change, fluids flushed. Then I am considering building the engine. Anyone have any ideas of what I should put in there. I am thinking of going turbo real soon so whatever will be good for turbo. I am only 17 and have limited knowledge about building an engine, I mostly only know all about the bolt on basics i/h/e and all that stuff.
My other crx will be going up for sale real soon, if anyone is looking for a crx in socal area send me an email.

Black top ZC is the good one. Does the plate actually say ZC on it?
Keep in mind that in many areas of CA the seller has to smog the car before you can purchase it. If not, you have to smog it before you can register it.

Thats true Dustin, but if the seller sells the car to you "AS IS" he is not liable to smog your car because you bought it that way and he has released all liability in the vehicle. But I am also very suspicious of the so called "ZC" because the d16a6 has a lot more power than the d15b2, which is the civic standard (108hp vs 70 hp). Are you sure it is the ZC? If it is DOHC then it is ZC. I think they made a SOHC too. Can someone answer that for me?
the ZC is a DOHC non-Vtec
...and the d16Z6 is the SOHC Vtec engine

Congratulations. That's very cheap. Here in Malaysia a slightly ratty 1988 Si I checked out (EF7) with the hood bulge and ZC was being sold for RM28K (US$7372).
Later I checked out a 1990 EF8 (SiR) for RM38K (US$10K). It has a B16 engine.
I am planning to get the SiR. What do you think? It needs a new steering wheel and some work. The car is excessively lowered and needs a new steering wheel, rear hatch struts, etc.

Dude, ZC is a DOHC 1.6-litre non VTEC engine with an output of about 130 horsepower. This is very high. The new 1.7-liter SOHC VTEC LEV engine only has an output of 130. Check if the Frame Number (Chassis Number) starts with EF7. Si's normally start with EF7.
B16A's normally have an output of about 160 horsepower at the flywheel.
I think I am going to get the SiR (EF8).

That sounds pretty good. Providing everything is running in good condition and no or very little rust it sounds great. The hood thing shouldnt be a problem since you are getting an engine swap and will have to replace it anyhow. Good luck with it. I have an 89 and love it. Have fun.
It says on the engine zc and it is a 5 million series one. I contacted the previous owner who sold the car to the guys that I bought it from, and she said that she did have a zc engine put in at 116,000 miles because the stock si engine had blown. So I am guessing that it should have around 65,000 miles on it.
Sorry i can't read any email at that address if you want to send me email send it to sd1dave@nethere.com my browser freezes whenever I try to log into my other address, so i can't read any of my email. New address is the one above.
