Atlanta, Nashville and Rockingham 'speedways'... just add Lowes and they can have a "roval" shootout

I'll be there!

Do we know which of these schedules will make up the ECHC schedule? Will it still be the NASA-VA events along with two (2) out of region events? Just curious, as I am trying to figure out my schedule for next year.

Right now assume ECHC == NASA-VA, SEHC == NASA-SE, etc.

Some of us, myself included, are hoping that ECHC will evolve to be the true east coast points series across the 3-4 NASA regions. Talks to make this happen are still on going. Please send you opinions the the HC leadership, particularly the ECHC team, if this kind of thing is of interest to you.

SEHC rovalage baby ...

Looks like only one RA weekend next year. All ya ECHC tossers better put that one on your "out of region" weekends!!!

I would love to see Lowe's, the infield is really challenging in school buses, I was also wondering if we could get any races at Summit Point. I didn't see any on the schedule

That would be cool, and RA is such a fun track, except the first time you go over the hill and see nothing but sky and no clue what is on the other side

I ran Rockingham a several times back in the early 1990's before they turned the infield course into NASCAR motorhome parking . Not sure if the new infield will be anything like the old...but it was pretty cool; the road course entrance was near the end of the back straight, really fast and bumpy. Then a few corners...including "the fish hook", then back in to the oval near the exit of NASCAR turn #4. Oval turns # 1&2 were REALLY FAST and challenging. The infield surface was pretty abrasive and ate tires.

Lowe's management wins the award as the most club racer unfriendly people in the country. If you're not NASCRAP...you're just wasting their time .

There was just a discussion about this course on a local club board. The layout is the same as it was before it was closed. The people who had run it seem excited about its return. I'm not sure how much of this is because of the track, and how much is because it's now the closest event to us. Supposedly, it's more interesting than it appears on paper.

It is A LOT more fun than it appears. Something about carrying a slip angle out of the banking, hearing your right side tires "chirpchirp" over the concrete patch at 110 or so, then braking down from 115 + to low 3rd gear on a 10% side hill (gives a whole new challenge to threshold braking)

The infield is fun, my favorite turn was 5, the open right turn at the end of the infield straight. I was always convinced I could take it flat out, but never quite made it. I am glad to have another chance. Taking 5 right made it an unholy bitch to get the car slowed down for 6-7 to get a good run back out onto the banking...such fun!

I see Atlanta Motor Speedway on the calendar. The Atlanta SCCA region ran that track on labor day weekend. I was not able to attend but from the comments I saw online and the people I talked to that ran, well, it was not well thought of as to a venue. Lots of cracked windshields and if I remember correctly some sections where runoff/screw up factor was pretty iffy. I do know they had a low turnout. I was suprised to see that CMP is not on the SE calendar but is on the NASA VA calendar. What no Barber Motorsports?

I LOVE roval races!!!! they really separate the men from the boys; the maps don't do them justice; nothing like blazing down the back straight and then into turns 3-4 at Lowes at warp speed; your body is screaming at you to lift and brake, but your brain must will your foot to stay glued to the floor; car loads up so severely that the springs squash down and you have no suspension travel left; car is skittering and floating back and forth; its hard to keep your head up straight and your lower body feels like lead!!!! you rocket out of the turn and down the front straight and prepare to slow for the infield turns.... and it goes on like that for 12 laps!!! FUN FUN FUN. i think the Lowes races were the most fun i have had in a racecar. SCARY, HEART POUNDING FUN!!!!

and that was with the LS drivetrain; man o man, i can't wait to take the K to a roval!!!!!!!!!!!!! i might finally get that puppy into 6th gear! oh yeah, baby!

todd

PS afterward, i had a huge newfound respect for the Nascar boys that do that for 500 miles.....

I hear ya! I was hoping for a Barber date since AL-SCCA bailed on the Barber SAARC weekend. My guess is NASA-SE doesn't havce the turn out yet to be able to rent Barber and not loose their a$$. Fingers crossed for 06.

Yeah, baby. The road course entrance at The Rock is a controlled crash when done properly! For those who think the NASCAR bowl at Lowe's is a rush, Rock's NASCAR 1&2 is a much tighter radius and spits you out toward that back stretch wall.

not to go offtopic, but you should look in to writing fiction racing stories. I felt like I was driving your car around lowes when i read that.

AL-SCCA will be racing in 2005 but it will not be at Barber (unless a miracle happens). We are going to Roebling where they don't hand out track damage bills post event for $17,000.

I just want to make things perfectly clear - those dates/track are TENTATIVE - things WILL change...

Now that I have posted that - the Rock is gonna be awesome

And for the record Todd's rendition of Lowes is EXACTLY how it is... I always come off that track talking 100mph from the adrenaline rush... and "the Rock" is definitely going to be a close second in roval ratings

First question, where did you "see that link"?

Secondly, were you authorized to post it?
