Default Insurance on a 94 EJ

I'm a 17 year old male (I know that alone jacks up my insurance prices) and i recently purchased a 94 ex 5 spd coupe. I called my provided to begin coverage and my payments are going to be $1900/6 mos.

That seems very high to me. Is there anyone out there in my age group the could maybe tell me ways to get that down or insurance providers that are cheaper?
Thanks!

Holy **** man you're getting raped! Cant you go through your parents or check into a different company? Civics are cheap as hell for insurance cuz all the companies look at is engine size. I pay under 90 a month for full coverage.

In answer to all of your questions:

spankaveli: No I'm not hybrid YET (give it a week). I don't plan on telling them. This is with full covereage.

Special_Ex: I am going through my parents(both over 50 with PERFECT driving records). I checked with geico and they gave me about the same estimate. I think the problem is that we have 5 cars and 5 drivers in my family..?..?

In conlcusion, this blows a fat one because I only paid $4k for the car, and by the end of the year i will have that in insurance.
If anyone knows off hand any insurance companies i would like to know so i can give them a call. I told my parents for that price, i could have bought a stricktly drag car and just used it at the track!

Thanks people!.

Spade : I called progressive, they were a lot higher. I will check out 21st century. My dad was in the coast guard for two days! He got discharged because of allergies though so i dont think that qualifies.

With that many cars , I figured that you guys would get a group discount. Another way of getting it cheap, of course depending on your insur. company, is to take drivers ed, security system, have antilock brakes, maybe if you could put the insurance under your mom or dad's name and include you as a driver. Just a suggestion , sometimes this doesn't work, but hey, worth a try. I paid $850 a year for full coverage, car was paid for in cash, it was a brand new 91 nissan maxima, clean record, under my dad's name and mine as the driver.

Everyone keeps saying "under my parents name" but i think thats how it is. Im not going out on my own insurance, im adding a car to the policy im already insured under.

Yeah I tried doing that to, the insurance company was going to rape me for around that same quote that they gave you, I save a ton of money going through my parents, and used the money that I saved towards car parts and had some money left over in case my car broke.
