How to start a car that's been sitting for 2 yrs?
So I have a car sitting in my back yard, collecting dust for the last 2 years. Ever since I bought a 97 Eclipse GSX as my daily driver, I never drove the other car and left it parked out back.
Now my wife wants me to get rid of it since it's just taking up space. Are there any precautions I need to take before trying to get it started again? Of course I'll change all the oils and fluids, spark plugs, filters, etc etc.
Do I need to use a thicker oil for the start up? What other precautions/procedures do I need to do before starting this old POS back up? BTW, it's a 91 Grand Prix GTP. 3.2L I believe? Twin DOHC V6. *Hey, it was my high school graduation gift back in '97*
Thanx in advance!

After 2 years I'd say all the fluids are shot; tranny, oil, coolant, brakes, AC coolant. You may want to pull the valve cover and apply some break in lube to the cam shaft and flush down the engine with oil pan off too. Oh check your belts, they may have dry rot on them, including the timing belt too. Good luck!!
I would search around some of the classic car sites for a complete answer. There is a huge list of things to do from the battery to spraying oil in the cylinders through the spark plug hole. Since they (classic car buffs) often deal with this they may know better.
These are about storing but it may help.

assuming your car is in good condition you last fired it up, just disconnect the plug wires and crank it up a few times to build up some oil pressure. keep cranking the sucker until the engine oil light turns off. then reconnect the plugs and fire it up. ps. you will need a battery with enough power to do this. you may want to use your other cars current battery and switch it back after you started up the car.
let the car run for awhile in normal operating temp conditions.

a few weeks back i started my brothers '90 civic after it had been sitting for 1 year. I jumped it 'cause the battery was dead. It started up with out too much difficulty but there was a wickid squeal comming from the engine with lots o smoke. The alternator was seized up hahawha. The belt melted thru and fell off haha. He can keep the old junker. Sitting a car is bad bad bad for everything. Rust, corrosion, poop crap (all rubber seals and hoses rot without fluids running by). My uncle knows all about it too and now knows better. A car should be fired up and driven once a week min (including running the A/C in winter).
