b series swap on crx!
Im about to get a b series motor for my crx but i need to get a tranny, so i was wondering, the tranny has to be hydraulic right?, and if so, then I need to get a pump right? or is there any other way to get away with not using one? C'mon b series guru's help a newbie out.

If you not gonna get the hydro conversion kit the tranny you want is a cable one, and I have no clue what pump your talking about.

Since your crx is already cable, you should use a cable transmission, 90-93 integra or 88-91 b16 tranny(recommended). I have a b17 in my hatch with a 91 integra ls tranny. Unless you want to spend extra money on a cable to hydro conversion kit, choose the easy route. Hydro would be nice to have, though. But the ideal tranny would be a cable one.

He is probably thinking about the hydraulic crap you need to make it operate like an actual hydraulic clutch.
crxomar,
Like CRX_control said, there are cable trannies that you can use. However if you do decide to use a hydro tranny, then you will need a cable to hydro conversion kit since EF clutches are setup for cable trannies. The Hasport conversion kit is just a set of brackets and levers that attach to the hydro tranny and make it work off of the stock clutch cable system. I have heard of one or two people swapping in the entire hydraulic system to make their hydro tranny operate like a true hydro clutch, but it is a looooot of work.

basically you have three choices
cable tranny ----- easiest
hydro tranny and use the conversion kit----not too hard just cost a little more
hydo tranny and actually use the clutch resivior----- pretty darn complicated but possible if you have either, time, money or both

i just swapped a b18a in my crx and i just took my whole swap including cable transmission out of my integra with no problem. dont even wast your time switching to hydro, cable is easier to adjust pedal pressure and in my experience the trannys are cheaper if you know where to look.
