Default Questions about throwing in a cd player (pics)

I'm totally new to this, so here goes.

This is what I have in my 91 Civic DX Hatch now:

I was attempting to replace it with this:

(front, without faceplate)

(faceplate)

When I came upon this puzzling stuff:

The mess of wires that connects the Delco unit that came with the car when I bought it

(shots of the main connector that nearly all wires go to from the JVC unit)

This is a picture of the Delco unit's primary connection to the vehicle. By primary I mean most of the wires coming from the Delco unit go to this black connector shown here:

... Which goes to the vehicle's connector:

Remember the main connector coming out of the JVC unit?

The black walls around it won't allow the white connector to get to it, and it probably doesn't matter because the metal tabs in the JVC connector don't appear to line up with the white connector's ones, nor do they appear to be of the same size.

This isn't my only problem. Notice these two slightly gold wires with clear covering?

They appear to be hardwired to some of the wires of the Delco unit and taped down, or just electrically connected and taped down.

These look the same as the two wires that connect these speakers here:

(explanation: I cleared out the rear area of my hatch and those speakers were unmounted and would just be flopping around, so I did a cheap mount job with the seatbelt in the back seat. I might as well trash these speakers because they appear to be blown or something, very soft sound, and any hint of bass only results in staticy sounds.)

I'm guessing these are connecting to those speakers, but mentioned this just in case it might help you help me

That's it. If you want me to take pics of any other part of the system, I can get that done real fast. HIZELP

That has got to be gettoest install I have ever seen, and I have seen a lot, but as bad as it is I cann't belive that the cars OEM radio harness is still there.

First thing to do is to connect the JVC harness to the adpt. harness, [its the one that is plugged into the white OEM harness] go to http://www.installdr.com to get pinouts,
All the wires that you need for the JVC are in the OEM harness, and just like the delcos harness is wired to the adpt. harness do the same with the JVCs harness.

As for mounting the the JVC, I would go to the bone yard and find a new, [to you] radio/heater control housing, it will have a DIN radio opening in it that will fit the JVCs mounting sleave, also it will clean up the dash a lot, [shouldn't cost more then $10].

Now the speakers.
1- get speakers that fit the stock locations.
2- get some 6x9 boxs for the speakers you have and mount them to the backs of the rear seat facing up.

Hope this helps 94

That is a pretty ghetto hook up they did. It looks like they kinda cut away and ruined part of your dash to get that radio in. That white harness is the OEM harness right? Are all the wires to that thing still intact? It looks like you should be able to get a wiring harness from like a Circuit City or Best Buy to hook up your radio.

The speakers with the seatbelt look like something from Pimp My Ride.
