Last night after returning from the block in Orange county... i entered a manhole dip at a pretty fast speed... I hit the dip and just keep driving. (Godbless those DZ shocks). Anyways i pull into the gas station and my friend who is parked across from me calls me and asks "Dood, wheres your lip?"

lol i take a look at the front of my car...



After seeing this i was like "oh good god fack."

I thought about how this could have happened...
1. When installing this replica mugen lip, it didnt fit great, so i forced it as much as possible for fitment... hmm possibility
2. The other morning at 10:59AM, in a frenzic hurry to buy a breakfast double crossaintwich from Burger King, i accidently run over a curb to get into the drive-thru... Eh the lip bent, i took a look and there was no damage.. hmm possibility
3. That dip we just ran over!

So i go back to where that dip was. ....hmmm bingo! Heres the damage. Found on the sidewalk.

I would break a fake lip over a real lip neday. Real lips arent made of titanium, theyre both plastic. Higher quality plastic u might say? Well for that much added $$$, no thanks.

my fugen lip is doing the same right now. where the two bolts are at on the side there is already a huge crack going

real ones aren't higher quality plastic, they're urethane or polyurethane, which are polymers that have higher abrasion resistance than abs plastic replicas. if you're scraping often, than it makes sense to just get a cheap one. but for occasional scrapes, oem is worth the extra money. my lip would be toast if it was abs plastic, the previous owner of my car ran over a bunch of curbs

I had the same exact lip on my EG and while pulling out of my friends driveway i bottomed out, I didn't think anything of it at 2am and just figured it was my lip getting a little scratched. Turns out it ripped the lip off one side, as I began driving forward I ran over the lip and broke it into atleast 150 pieces lol

I smiled and drove away because I was taking the lip off the following day to put my OEM honda lip on cause I HATED that mugen ****

same thing happened to the abs lip I had on my sedan. I had to force it to fit around the rear of the bumper and it ended up cracking on it's own.

The big downsides to the cheap knockoff lips is that they're made of abs, which doesn't flex at all, and they rarely fit perfectly requiring modifications.

Most of the good lips, especially oem, are made of urethane, which flexes instead of cracking. plus they usually fit right.
