The first steps of turboing an ls?
I just wanted to know what would be the most appropriate start to turbo an ls. Ive got a friend who had an ls, he whent to a local shop and they told him they could put on a turbo right on to a completely stock engine with really low psi. Then after he modified the car more they would raise the psi. Wanted to know if this is a good way to start or if there is a better way?
Research. Learn what you needed, Then put together a kit yourself. Or you can go with one of the turbo kit, installing turbo is not that hard and i think most people can do it just need time. A shop would rape on the cost probably and dont go cheap on Engine Management, that what mostly decided if the engine blwo of not. 7-9 psi should be in the safe range for an LS, i ran 7 psi for about a month and blow a ring so who know...
****, boost the stock block for a while with tuning and be happy running low 13's or possibly high 12's....
also, i thought this was gonna be more of a question of a step-by-step how to install a turbo kit. if you want to run 15 psi on it, id suggest a thicker headgasket. you can run 12's on stock internals easy with that stock compression ratio of 9:1.
