help please, keep busting axels....
i have an 96 integra, its pretty low but not as low as some that i see driving around. i've gone through like 4 changes, each time it starts clicking within a week or one kinda hard turn. now it starts making a metal grinding noise when i hit certain bumps in the road and won't stop until i completely stop the car. could a bad rear engine mount do this? i know its not my ride height because i see many other integras lower than me and they don't have ant problems. i know my struts are dead, could that be it? oh, and its only the driver side. i changed the passanger side twice and its been fine since. the grinding noise is really freaking me out. please help. thanks in advance
your motor mounts have a huge effect on your axles!....most people dont think about it though.....if you have bad motor mounts, it can effect your axles and make them go bad......as soon as i noticed my mounts going bad, i changed them........i still have the original axles, so i think that helped save them.
agreed ^. which engine are you running and how modded is it? what do you use the car for (eg daily driving, auto-xing, etc.)? those kind of questions will determine what changes you need to make.
its a gsr, i use it for all my daily stuff, once in a while it gets abused. i'll try changing my mounts. any idea why or what the grinding noise is from? is the axel going to fall out soon or something? i was the one who installed the axel, i checked and double checked everything. nothing is rubbing anything either. any ideas?
sounds like your motor mount is setting on your axle when your physically driving from the tourque from the motor. thus causing the grinding sound your hearing. but when you stop its lifting off of it. just a possiablity. also you might check your ball joints to make shure they are still good and not putting the axle in a bind.
