hondata
yeah yeah yeah, i know im going to get flamed and yelled at to use the search, but i did and scaned the first few pages and didnt see too much of help, saw a bit of stuff for sale and some random other things, but that was about it.
so whatexactly is a hondata tuner for? it seems alot of people who are boosted use it? what does it do? and if you know, how does it operate?

It's a piggyback engine management system that allows full manipulation of fuel and ignition tables, vtec engagement, etc

Hondata is a tunable engine management system that can be installed into OBD1 ecus, it allows fuel & ignition maps to be altered, VTEC points changed, knock sensors to be disabled, and with the extra $$$ options it allows Honda ecus to read boost (stock ecu's can only read vacuum from the MAP sensor)

hondata should not be thought of as a piggy back computer.
a piggy back interupts signals to the computer and sends a simulated signal to trick the computer into doing something.
hondata is an interface that allows you to tune the factory computer. it more or less converts the factory computer into a standalone. not trying to sound like a dick, but it is not a piggyback

Its still a reburned chip that goes into the ECU. It is not standalone.
AEM EMS, Motec are standalone.

and a blue box
but I think he meant it more in a way as: Hondata should not be seen as for instance a VAFC.. which basicly is a toy compared to Hondata... so calling Hondata a piggyback isn't doing this system a whole lot of justice.
