B20vtec C/R on 93 octane
I've only seen answers for 91 octane. I'm not sure if it will make that much of a difference for 93 octane but I'm going to ask anyways. On a fully built b20b bottom end with b16 head w/skunk 2 stage 2 valve train, what is the HIGHEST compression you would reccommend on 93 octane with Hondata S100??
Note: I will be driving the car casually as well, not just at the tracks.

my friend had an LS/VTEC with ctr pistons and a b16 head, i think thats 12.8:1 and he didnt detonate. i wouldnt go more than 12:1 but thats my opinion. the higher compression, the more retarded your timing has to be.
Don't go any higher than 12.0:1 unless you don't mind mixing or running with race gas. Even on 93 you'll still probably have to pull a little timing either from the distributor or with the Hondata. If you're planning on burning a couple EPROMs then I would just leave the distributor timing where it is and tune your timing conservatively, do a race gas proggy and one for pump, it's just a lot easier and we've actually done this for a lot of customers running high boost turbo setups that don't want to run straight race gas on the street.
So Basically, if I don't want to run race gas and have extremely retarded timing I shouldn't go above 12:1. Are the JE 11:5:1 pistons any good or who makes good 12:1 pistons?
Yea, I would really say 12:1 is the limit for daily driving (you don't want to be mixing with race gas to drive an all motor car around, it's a little different with a turbo motor) As far as pistons go JE's are cool. In general we use JE, Wiseco, and CP the most. I'd personally stay away from Ross tho but that's just me.
