I believe in Lee Parks' book, he describes Syed as having the best protection/armor. But the tradeoff is increased weight compared to other manufacturers. Most custom suits should be above-average because they fit you perfectly - no bunching or stretching.
They are not that bad. They can be very comfortable if you get the stretch panels. You basically get what you pay for. You can get a suit with all options for just about $1000. You can even have custom colors, patterns and/your own patches.
