Has anyone made a Airbag tray for when you take out Passenger Airbag?
Has anyone thought about making one for a 5th gen? I for one will take out the passenger airbag for weight reduction purposes but was interested in a plate. Since i know honda did make one could anyone custom make one to work and look stock? Or maybe make a replica top piece of the airbag to fit in that area and look stock?
Something like this:
Something like this:
1 - remove bag and parts
2 - cover the inside with lots of saran wrap (so you can take out step3)
3 - fill the hole with molding clay
4 - cut out the desired tray
5 - let it dry over night
6 - remove clay, cover in fiberglass or carbon fiber. let dry
7 - remove clay
8 - paint, dry
9 - install
10 - post pics on HT with captions saying that doug is y0 masta

I had one of them. As much as I thought he was a big fat ***, when he was squatting 300 pounds I kept my mouth shut.

For a 4th gen, you can pick up a dash from a Prelude S from a junkyard or something....those don't have airbags, just a flat dash.
I was telling the guy just above me who asked about a 4th gen
or whoever else would be interested....

On my 4th gen I took out the airbag, then took the cover off the airbag itself, and then put the cover back in the car. Obviously the cover won't stay there by itself, but I zip tied it in there, and now it won't move at all.
I've never really looked at the airbag in the 5th gen, but maybe this same idea would work for you.
If you want some pics just let me know.

humm thats interesting never seen that.. i kind of had my own idea.. rip out the air bag.. or dig a hole depending on if you have pass. air bags or not.. then somehow slap a tv in it.. although i wanted to slap in my laptop in it.. just the screen somehow extend the monitor wires from the lap top so i can store the lap under my seat or something along those lines.. i know far catched but if someone likes the idea it made me f-in excited thinking about it unfortunately i have no money to try that anytime soon
Do you have a pic of that cover as it would look like *** if it wasnt made of the same dash material and would have to be painted.
I haven't taken the time to weigh either of the ones I've taken out, but an educated guess would be about 13-14 lbs.
Now that I think about it I think I will go weigh one of them.

I took out mine on my 4th gen and really, it's not that heavy...but I guess every pound helps! anyway, it was prolly around 10-12 pounds. Anyway, I chose to put some extra gauges in there.
the carpet is now black and no longer red.

On the 5th gen just take ther cover off the passenger side airbag once you remove it and re-install just the cover. It will snap back into place and be very secure. No extra cost involved.
my friend fit a dc2 airbag block off tray in his dc2. the fitment wasnt perfect, but nobody could tell
I wouldn't mind having something like this. I don't have air bags in my car anyways, so this would be good to do for my car.
