i've recently installed a b16 in my integra a few months ago and just a few weeks ago i've noticed a louder than usual ticking noise coming from valve cover so popped the valve cover off did a valve adjustment on a cold motor started it up didnt sounded fine but the motor wasnt completey warmed up so took around the block went into vtec and shifted around 6400 then when i came back i notice taht same ticking noise had come back. the motor doesnt feel sluggish ildes perfect so i'm not sure what it could be

 

bent valves? did you check those? or bent rod's?

 

nope i havent had a chance to get the head off but when you have bent valve cant you really tell performance wise from teh motor? and when you give it some gas the noise goes away its only at idle it makes this noise

 

Whats the mileage on it, older motors that havn't had oil changed as often as they should usually make head noises when cold.

If it ticks when its warm, that's an even worse sign to my knowledge.

 

i'm not sure the mileage on the motor the place i bought usually says less than 45-60,000 km. when i first got the motor i just used regular vavoline oil i recently did a oil change and running mobil 1 full snythetic. it just makes the noise at a idle when i speed it up to around 900-1,000 rpms the noise goes away
