Exospeed = bad experiance
Hi guys i just wanna vent my frustration on a certain shop called exospeed
My names matt i live in Sydney Australia i Drive a ED9 CRX with a ZC(D16A8)
I was searching the net for ZC cams since there isnt much to choose from around where i am. So i decided to choose exospeed since they seemed like a reputable shop. I ordered my $490.00 USD cams on the 24th of August 2004. i still havent recieved no cams, no tracking number nothing from Will. and it is now the 12 of November.
Im unable to make contact with will since he doesnt reply to emails, That guy Dylan thats been telling people that have exospeed problems to email him cant seem to get anything done (even tho he replys)
If you have any comments please feel free to post your opinions
I would just like to share my email logs

hi matthew,
It usually takes 10-15 working days to get to international destinations. but sometimes it can get held up at the country's own postal office due to the customs, etc.
lets see til this friday and hope its cleared by then.

Hi Matthew,
Thanks for writing. Sorry about the delay on the cams. Unfortunately,
the machine shop we use for regrinding, sleeving, etc closed down for
awhile and was later sold (RS Machine). Because of this, we had to
move all of our machine work to another shop, which resulted in some
delays. If Wil sent them on the 30th, it is possible they are stuck in
customs? or maybe they didn't get out ontime. I really apologize and I
will check on the status of your cams and get back to you on an
estimated delivery date. Thanks!

Hi Matthew,
I just talked to Wil, he said he sent out the ZC cam regrinds during
the 2nd week of September via US Postal Service. He is going to see if
he can track the package, if not, it may just take awhile or be in
customs. If he can't track it, then please give us a call or email in
2 weeks if you still have not received them.
Thanks, Dylan

Hi Matthew, Sorry for the delay, but I think he finally sent them out
last week. I will see if he has a tracking # or any other info, and
when he sent them out. Sorry again.

Hey Matthew, I am really sorry about the delay. But Wil double checked
the address and sent it out. So it should get to you, or it is stuck
in customs. I am not sure. He told me something about it being
difficult to get a tracking number for international shipments, but
maybe he used the wrong method to send it. I will talk to him and see
if he has any info on how to track it down. Thanks for letting me
know, Dylan

He told me he was going to email you, sorry if he didn't. I will ask
him about a refund, I am assuming the cams will get sent back to us
again. If they do, I will have him use Fedex or some more reliable
shipping source. If you do get the cams, we would probably want you to
send them back to us or keep them and refund the refund.
I will talk to him and find out what he can do. Thanks, Dylan

Will posts on here & other boards all the time, and I have talked to him on many occasions. He seems to be a good guy. I'm sorry about your experience, but I am sure that it is nothing intentional.
I'm having the same problem as you bro. three months and i havent seen my linkage. Not from that same shop from another one landspeedracing.
everytime i give them a call they dont know what's going on. i asked to talk to the manager. he reply's that he cant get into the system because its locked down.
This past monday i called them again pissed of and i told them i wanted something done today. He magicaly unlocked the computer and i supposedly sending me my part this comming wed.
Im supposed to keep in touch with them tommorow, lets see if it happens.
sorry for the delay on your part man. I know how it feels

Matt, we sent the cams the first time and for some reason it came back to us and undeliverable.
When we send any item that is of high value, we usually have it sent back to us at our cost.
It did come back and I sent it out again. Taking a chance on the same way we sent the first time because US postal has been successful many times in the past with International orders.
Yes its frustrating, for international orders and Im sure alot of out of country guys here know what I'm taking about regarding shipping from the US. Its not that easy and some companies dont even want to ship outside the US.
It sucks that we cant track once it leaves US. I wish I can ship Fed Ex or UPS but I refuse to ship through courier due to the paperwork involved. Maybe I'm just doing it wrong, but its been a pain in the past.
I'll be glad to refund you money and take a loss on this sale. or I can source another core and we can try Courier this time, but I would need to look into DHL or something else, maybe its easier to ship that way. But in no way would I ever not want to take care of you.
In any case, the sale is a loss to us already, but I will do anything to resolve this matter whether its you wanting the part still or a refund.
Wil
We've shipped to customers custom parts to race blocks and even full engines to Austria, Australia, Estonia, Israel, Poland, Sweden, Germany, Curacao, Panama, Cyprus, Spain, Italy, Bosnia, Turkey, Guam, Phillippines, Indonesia, THailand, Qatar, United Arab Emirates, Puerto Rico, and many more international places.
And Honestly, it hasnt been easy. Most were smooth transactions, but there were a few that we had issues of parts coming back or even got lost. but in any case, we do the best that we can to resolve things. I know most companies wont even ship outside of the US. We know we have hard to find parts and we're not the typical Honda/Acura Race parts company, so we do the best that we can to provide the good stuff to everyone out there. You can get your AEM cam gears and DC sports intakes anywhere, but when it comes to the REAL racing parts, we'll go out of our way to ship to fellow racers who are thousands of miles to us.

I've been for ordering from Exospeed for a while now, and never have had a bad experience. I talk to Wil all the time, and have ordered alot from him and have never had a problem with shipping or otherwise. I just want to put it out there that they are not a scam or anything like that.I consider Wil a good friend and he would never try to cheat anyone out of anything!!!!!

I've had nothing but good experiences with exospeed. From what i understand they are understaffed and an unexpected growth for their cams have hit. i wouldnt run anything else in the motor i'm building and from what i hear at the track the numbers they can put down is why they are in such high demand.
I had a problem with LANDSPEED too. they are aweful when it comes to customer service. I ordered a catalytic convertor for my Hybrid CRX and it took over a month and a half to finally get it. Everytime I called they said it "should ship out next week" I understand it was a custom order becuase of the length but a month and a half? Plus they charged my CC before the part ever shipped out!!
I spoken to Wil at EXOSPEED a few times, first couple times he seemed flaky but after talking with him and understanding his situation with his vendors he turned out to be a sincere and business like fellow. When I'm ready I might be using them for future engine services.

yeah that reallys sucks, because they claim to do so much work on their site, that i really can't find anywhere else. I was going to get work done by them too, oh well, guess i'll go local. And they do allot (or claim to ) high clibur work on D engines as well, which is also hard to find. So Given that you are in Australia, i would definitnely like to hear more feedback from people on here who have delt with them, before their reputation is bashed to the ground. But in any case that is horrible business practice, and you should be 1 notified of all activity, and 2 if there is a problem, refunded immediately.

Yeah.. as i said i wouldn't think it would be cool for a so called reputable place to get bashed, but that situation sucks. If they dont have the man power, they shouldn't work internationally at all, because if your working on your engine and need parts ASAP, your fuked.

Ive said it before and ill say it again...Wil at exospeed is the most stand up dude on HT. Ive ordered a bunch of **** from them...including a couple stes of cams and jimfab x-members...and i honestly have no complaints whatsoever. Hes always taken the time to help me out with any questions...even when i had to ask him the specs of the LS909 cams like 50 times because i kept forgetting. He also helped me when i was having problems with the valve lashing on my LS. Exospeed gets
from me.

There's alot of paperwork when it comes to international shipping. Lots of times, there might be a form missing and the item remains in customs for days/weeks without any notification from customs or even the forwarder (in this case, the USPS).

What do we do... give up on you guys and turn away your needs. Of course we wont do that. But we all have to understand that international shipping is not the easiest thing to do. But we still do it for you guys.

i'll offer a quick positive plug for exospeed. although it seemed like things were up in the air for a while with them, wil and the rest of the staff have obviously been working hard to try and resolve everything and get back to the way things were. i have spoken with wil numerous times over the phone and have bought dohc zc cams from them (had mine re-ground). i was very happy with the product and will do business with them in the future. best of luck to you getting either your money back or your cams. i loved my zc cams while i was running that engine.
wil, good luck with straightening everything out, and hello also.

paying for sometihng in advance 3 months ago and having a motor and a car stripped apart ready for these parts then not recieving them is a pain to say the least
Also to Will , if you can sucessfully get these cams to me a refund isnt needed
see customer relationship works both ways..... if these cams arrived faster i would have more sense of security in this shop and would of bought more parts etc

Obviously we wanted it to be a smooth transaction. But shipping delays that WE could not control occured and its not our fault. i'll get another core ready and let you know when we're shipping. I'll see if I can ship differnt way.. like

Just a thought-both FEDEX and UPS have international shipping WITH tracking available. I grant the paperwork can be a burden to the shipper as well as the receiving party. We had aJDM front lip shipped from Japan to Canada and then shipped across the border to me by the Canadian dealer. I had to pay for an Agent to handle the customs paperwork and that took a week by itself.
I have owned my own business and shipped throughout the USA without trouble of any kind. I have been on the receiving end of international shipments and really would not want to do the paperwork.
With that said it appears that Exospeed is truly trying to get your cams to you. If it is a problem with fees owed to your government, maybe you should check on that and advise Exospeed. On the other hand Expspeed can inquire as to why the shipment did not get to you via USPS.
Good luck.

never dealt with you yet but
to you guys
I have plans in the works to buy a D16Z6 swap for my EG this winter and a serious build-up is in the works.
After doing alot of homework mostly on D-series.org, you guys at Exospeed are going to be my choice for the build.
As far as international orders taking some time, one instance saw over TWO MONTHS time before I received a small JDM Honda coin pocket for my EG. International orders can be tricky and I would honestly be worried to order vital engine parts, let alone a complete race block, through the mail with the way shipping orders get misplaced, lost, mis-directed and so on.
I myself have sent items out and encountered mis-routing delays several times. Once the person sending the package puts it into process, they are at the mercy of every single person and electronic device that handles or influences it's movement. Insurance (or sender-paid return option) are the only real saviours to ensure that no matter what happens you're covered against loss or damage.

especially for the international customers.
What do we do... give up on you guys and turn away your needs. Of course we wont do that. But we all have to understand that international shipping is not the easiest thing to do. But we still do it for you guys.</TD></TR></TABLE>
never dealt with you yet but
to you guysI have plans in the works to buy a D16Z6 swap for my EG this winter and a serious build-up is in the works.
After doing alot of homework mostly on D-series.org, you guys at Exospeed are going to be my choice for the build.
As far as international orders taking some time, one instance saw over TWO MONTHS time before I received a small JDM Honda coin pocket for my EG. Thanks for the support everyone, as you can see, I tried to deal with the situation as best as I could. When we have problems with shipping internationally, it is difficult to track down the source. We have had numerous problems with customs, and we will certainly send it through a more reliable, albeit more expensive source next time.
Thanks for your patience, Matt. Exospeed is dedicated to satisfying our customers, and although we will take a significant loss if the cams are never returned to us, we will certainly make sure that you have the parts you need.
Thanks, Dylan
