Default Rode an '03 SV 650

Yeah fools, I can finally praise this piece for more than it's sexy *** nekkid looks.

Very different from my R6. WOW. Seating position is much more comfortable and I feel like I can just toss that thing around. So easy to ride, I was surprised. I felt right at home after 5 minutes on the thing. This bike is a GREAT beginner bike - hell, great all around bike. Perhaps a great track bike, too...hmmm...we'll see soon...stay tuned...

5/5 Beers

So, are you saying that the SV650 feels lighter on its feet than your R6?

Mine's treating me ok. But I always thought a sportbike would be easier to flick around.?

God. I really don't dig the way the old SV looks with the "S" bodywork.

If you must have the S version, get an '03 or newer. The old ones just look like Katanas, but uglier.

I love the black wheels on the '04s, but not the black frame.

I'm going to wait around until some squid wrecks an '04, and then pounce on a set of those wheels.

Had one and traded it in for the new gixxer 6. I wish'd I kept it and used the money instead for suspension upgrades...

That was my reason too, I thought the sportbikes are more flickable. I guessed wrong. SV + suspension upgrades = badass trackbike!

Right, of course.

I have an '04 myself, I had forgotten.

All this talk is making me reconsider my plan to get a Gixxer750 next year. I may just stick with the SV and upgrade it a bit...the brakes leave a lot to be desired.

Saw the bike I was looking to buy last night. It's an '03 SVS that was bought this past Spring as a leftover. I think I'm kinda in love with it. Imma call the guy tomorrow and perhaps buy this thing.

That's the scary part... it's copper. Over the last however many months I've been looking at SVSes I've always thought copper was my least favorite. I thought for sure I wouldn't like the color when the guy brought it by but when I saw the bike last night I wanted to hump it. The thing is in great shape... other than a somewhat rigged fender eliminator (read: license plate holder) it's damn near perfect.

See? You just don't think you'll like it when you see it.

I thought about it and I think I'm gonna call this guy back... it's just tough making a leap like this having never owned my own bike. I mean it's in great shape physically, has less than 5k miles on it, has a transferable extended warranty and the guy seems like he really cares about the bike. He even offered to change the oil before he delivered it so I'd know there was fresh oil in there. They guy is asking $4500, which is evidently $500 less than what he originally was asking. He picked up his GSXR last night so I know he's ready to sell. I can pay the $4500 but I wouldn't mind getting a few hundred off that. I also don't want to insult the guy by low balling him. What to do... what to do....

The copper ones really don't look too bad.

The silver might be the best, but who cares? It's not like there's much plastic on it anyway.

That's $1400 less than the MSRP. Does that sound right to you?

isnt the msrp 6299? so thats 1800 less. i wouldnt pay over 4300, if you can still negotiate. that gets you down to 2k off MSRP, which is perfectly reasonable for a 5k mile bike.

I stand corrected again. I was thinking of the naked, not the S.
