Front Bumper Painted by Previous Owner....
he had the WHOLE bumper painted the same color...even the grill areas. Is there a way to take the paint off and make it the stock black again or will it always be stained red or something.
I need to know cuz I might just buy another front bumper!
Thank you kindly.

Me likes....
Just wondering if I can strip it down to the plastic and not have to worry about painting it at all......is this a possibility or will I absolutely have to do what you did?

I am wanting a solution for this too. Bastards painted the grill sections and parts of the white paint are flaking off as it wasnt primered properly and never should have been painted. I'm wondering if I can flake the rest of the paint off or if it will flake too far and take off paint i want to keep.

You can see the flaking starting near the indicator here.

thats a stupid idea because assuming your not a pro you will probably strip some of the paint you wnt to keep so jst do it the right way and tape it up and respray it plus if you strip it you give you car paint a starting point to start chipping so leave it sealed and spray over it. and this is only if you want to save money if not get the whole thing sanded and repainted

If you're not smart enough to tape off the rest of the bumper properly, then maybe you should leave it to a professional.
If you don't strip it, and the flat black chips, there's going to be color underneath. If you do strip, as we did my friends 95 Civic EX bumper, when the body shop was too lazy to do it correctly, it will be black underneath, and the chipping won't show up nearly as much over the years.

Exactly the way to do it right
. With a stripped and prepped surface, the flat black paint would stick even better. I'd probably use that bumper refinish stuff that they sell at auto parts stores to make the bumpers and trim look new again.

And you're talking about stupid ideas?
. Don't waste your money, your bumper can easily be fixed with a little time and patience.

ROFL.

Covering over it just seems like the wrong way to go about doing it to me. The bumper respray from the previous owner was not prepped properly on the black sections in the grille which means that the paint is not sealed at the moment, it has started flaking off as you can see from my picture above.

So you're saying strip the WHOLE bumper? or just strip the bits where its painted wrongly?
If I just strip the bits where its painted wrongly, why would I bother painting it flat black when its already flat black?
