stock shocks with coil overs...
i want to drop my honda civic w/ coil overs...if i could, how long can i use my stock shocks on skunk coil overs? is it bad to use stock shocks. or should i wait until i have enough for shocks and coils? and how long should i go without a camber kit?
If I were you...I'd just save up for both the coilovers and shocks. That way...you can do it at once. You can use your stock shocks...but with stiffer springs...they will go out much quicker than they normally would.
im riding on skunk2's...the ride is okay...not as bad as i thought it would be...but i agree with buying shocks with the coil sleeves...so you get that over with...as far as your wheels cambering...i would get it cambered asap...

Since I've seen blown stock shocks with coilover spring sets. I can pour those fluid out and all the dust cover broke like crazy and jamned inside the springs.
Well anyway, what year is your civic and how low do u wanna go?

1.5-2" should be OK for the stock shocks depends on the condition of your stock shocks right now and the road condition in your city. So, I can't guarantee.
For me I lowered my 99 civic DX with Kg/mm DR Racing springs right after I got the car from the dealer. It lower about 60mm front and 55mm rear. And before I swap it to a damper kit my stock shocks are still good. That's after like 1.5year.
U have to consider about getting another set of dampers to stand with the higher spring rates of the coilover springs anyway. KYB AGX is a pretty good choice. Cheap with pretty good performance. If u go for Koni or Bilstein, choose Bilstein since Koni is too rough. But Koni/Bilstein+springs is about the price of a set of real coilovers now.
Hard to make a decision eh? Just my 2cents if u have any more problem, let me know.

If you're going to go with anything LESS then a 2" drop then i would stick with stock shocks as long as they're in good shape. I rode around on stock shocks with Neuspeed race (2.25" drop) for over 2 years and when i swapped out the stock shocks for Tokico's, they were in perfect shape. I would say the same about a camber kit too. If you're only going to lower it about 1.5", just get a 4-wheel alignment afterwards. Good luck
