engine knocking

Default engine knocking

i have a 1994 honda civic si hatchback vtec 1.6L and and when i rev my engine or am accelerating there is a tickin sound it doesnt make it when idleing just when engine is being reved or when accelerating the noise seems to be coming from the front of the engine

can anyone help me to figure out whats wrong

Just like the last thread that you posted in, he said the same thing. But we need to know if it is a "ticking" from the head or a "knocking" from the block. If it is from the head than it is probably a valve problem. If it is from the block it just may be a bearing.

its coming from the front of the block and i did over rev and it didnt do that before i over reved

Well, if it's coming from the block, then like I said, it might be a spun bearing. Let's get some more posts to back this up though! Good luck.

I agree! You'v got rod knock. The knocking sound will get worst until it makes a hole in the block.

I agree..... One of my friends had the same thing. It just kept getting worse. You can look in the vtec solenoid and see if there are metal shavings in there. If there are it is a spun bearing. Unless it just started then it might not be up there yet. But every time that I have had to fix this problem there are metal shavings in the solenoid.

If you are looking at the front of the car, the vtec solenoid is on the left side of the motor, almost right below the distributor. If you get a Hayne's, it will help you out considerably with this. It is hard to tell you exactly where it is.

thats what i am saying "knocking" or "ticking". what the hell, get it straight, they are totaly different things.

good advise. if it is "knocking" that would be my guess.
