I've done a search but most of the results return only For Sale posts, so, I am interested in installing a set (front and rear) of 99-00 SI sway bars onto my 00 H/B. Other than the sway bars themselves, what other parts will I need to complete the job? Perhaps someone can go to http://www.hondaautomotiveparts.com and list the parts I will need. Thanks.

 

this should probably be in the civic forum. i'm not entirely sure what the EK has stock, but you'll need to check for LCAs w/ holes for endlink, and endlinks in the rear. the front? i haven't clue.

 

The H/B and the Si have the same rear arms. So the provisions for the endlink's should be there already.

Aside from the actual sway bar itself you will need:

(1) Left Endlink
(1) Right Endlink
(2) Self Lock Nuts for above endlinks for sway bar end
(2) Self Lock Nuts for above endlinks for lower arm end
(2) Brackets
(4) Bolts for above bracket
(2) Bushings
(2) Holders for bushings
(4) Bolts for above holders

This is everything I can think of off the top of my head. Probably like over $150 in parts from a dealer.

 

the rear sway bar will bolt on with no problems. but the front you need to swap the control arms.

the control arms on the si are completely different than all other civics. you'd probably be better of just upgrading your bushings on the front. that's what I did, and it made a noticable difference in the way the front feels during cornering.

Thanks for the info. Do you know if Honda sells it as an entire rear sway bar kit or will I have to part it out piece by piece?

I looked at the Comptech kit but it seems a little pricey.

What bushings did you upgrade to? Thanks.

 

What are the SI arms like? I can't tell from the picture. Typical arms are cast iron. SI arms look like stamped steel. One of the honda sites has lower SI arms for $120 each. I was thinking about getting a pair. You have to use the SI specific sways AND arms if you use an SI sway bar. The SI sways use a special endlink which I don't believe works on other control arms.

Please correct me if I'm wrong. They're more like the Teg R sways with the spherical end links.

Piece by piece. Unless you happen to find some place that grouped everything together and sells it at a discount rate, kinda like a lot of places to with "timing belt packages" etc....

 

These parts are OEM Acura and can be found at dealerships and/or online OEM part distributors. Here's what you need:


52300-ST7-Z01 22mm rear swaybar
52315-ST7-Z01 swaybar bushing (2 needed)
52308-SS0-000 bushing bracket (2 needed)
52316-ST7-Z00 endlink bushing (2 needed)
52312-ST7-Z00 endlink bushing collar (4 needed) – reusable from the stock sway bar
90175-ST7-Z00 bolt (8x35) (2 needed)
94050-08080 flange nut (8mm) (2 needed)
you will need GSR or ITR lower control arms though. plus sway beak kit or comptech tie bar and sway bar combo. to prevent the tear at the frame.

si front sway bar swaps (complete) tend to go for around $190...for the 26mm bar, forks (not previously mentioned but you need these too!!!), LCAs, endlinks & all the nuts & bolts.

you will pay way too much if you buy things piece by piece...

you realize the 99-00 si rear bar is 13mm right? I am putting a ITR rear swaybar (22mm) on my hatch with an ASR reinforcement kit (which you wouldn't need with Si rear sway) ...on a side note OEM CTR come with 26mm & 22mm in the rear

I'm getting the CompTech rear bar kit because it includes the re-enforcement panel AND is adjustable. It's 22 mm but, you can make it stiffer or softer by moving the attachment points.

I'm on the prowl for spindles and front LCA's. They're not that expensive used though, for $120 WITH new bushings, the honda ones are a steal.

 

Hmmmm I don't think he was talking about an ITR rear swap. He said 99-00 Si.

How much difference is there between the 13mm OEM Si vs the 22mm CTR/ITR rear sway in the handling of the car? Does anyone have any input on this? Thanks again.

Tremendous! You are almost doubling your rear sway diameter. Just going up a few mm is a noticeable difference let alone 9mm.

Look instead of messing around with trying to track down all the OEM stuff and probably not be satisfied with the Si bar. Just buy this Beaks Sway Kit

 

I did a lot of reaserch & went with the ASR reinforcement kit (w/oem ITR rear bar)...people have still torn subframes with the beaks kits

I went two years on the Beaks kit w/ a JDM ITR 23mm rear bar no less. Sub-frame was perfect.

I don't think all the ASR bling! is really necessary, but to each his own.

 

I did notice the comptech kit didn't seem to re-enforce the backside of the control arm mount, just the front. This kit seems like it does the backside too.

I've had the an ITR rear sway on my coupe with the beaks kit for 4 years now and have had zero problems.

The Beaks kit http://www.beaksproducts.com/EK_Quick_Swap.htm seem to have everything needed and a 22mm rear sway to boot. Seems like a good deal and you don't have worry about acquiring all of the parts individually with the SI rear sway bar build up.

How about the front? What are folks doing for upgrades. To do a SI sway bar build on the front would require SI LCAs and all of the other hardware. Is there a simpler solution?

I say don't. Leave it alone. I was contemplating "upgrading" on my old 99 Si to a smaller diameter bar as I'm not convinced yanking the bar and making up in spring rate is a good idea, but never got a chance.

On my '90 Si I "upgraded" to the CRX HF bar in the front and ST rear bar. Spring rates are 400F/500R w/ Koni's respectively.
