I AM TRYING TO PURCHASE A NEW DIZZY FOR MY 95 CIVIC EX (D16Z6). WHEN I CALL MY PARTS DISTRUBITOR HE SAYS THERE ARE 2 FOR THIS CAR AND THAT THERE SHOULD BE A TAG ON THE ONE I HAVE. LOOKING AT THE ONE I HAVE I SEE NO TAG OR MARKING OTHER THAN (D02691). HE IS LOOKING FOR EITHER TD42U OR TD44U, WHICH ONE DO I HAVE OR WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THEM?

I just replaced mine, and it was actually easy to find, it was stamped into the metal. Should be pointing up, or towards the front of the car. You may have to clean to find it, but it's there.

Good luck. If all else fails, bring the part to a parts store and they will find it for you.

The TD44U is for OBD-1 VTEC B-series.

 

Actually I thought the difference was the manufacturer. One being Hitachi, the other being TEC... correct me if I'm wrong...

TD42U is definitely for the OBD-1 VTEC D-series, and TD44U is definitely for the OBD-1 VTEC B-series.

Maybe you're thinking of the TD44U vs. the TD68U? Those two are compatible.

Well I officially stand corrected. Thanks for the info. On another note, what are the differences between the TEC and Hitachi units? I know that there were two options on the D16z6 and on the B16A2. Neither link seems to address the manufacturer. Is it just a different style cap and rotor?

I honestly have no idea. I didn't know the distributors varied based on the manufacturer . . .
