Removing fuel filter
hi guys, i spent the last 2 hrs trying to replace my fuel filter but its not budging. i got the top bolt off, but i can't get the actual fuel filter off the bottom fuel line. i removed the brace that hold the filter in place, but the filter doesnt want to turn. I havent tried accessing the filter from the bottom mainly because i dont see an opening where i can get tools in from the bottm. If you guys could give a step by step process of how to remove the filter, that would be great. thanks.
Sorry, i forgot to mention that the car is a 2000 SH.

Thanks for the diagram, but unfortunately, i didnt post what car i had. Its a '00 prelude SH. the only problem im facing is that i cant twist the filter off of the bottom fuel line. after alot of force, it twisted a quarter turn (counterclockwise), but its still pretty stuck on there. I feel like every time i fforce it, im damaging the bottom fuel line. Is there anything i should be doing in addition to just trying to unscrew it off? thanks guys.
I have a similar problem, I spent all day yesterday trying to remove my old fuel filter on my 96 si. I got the outlet bolt loose, but the inlet is not budging (and making me very angry). There isnt much room to work b/c of the firwall so close to the filter and im afraid i will strip the bolt if i try any more. any tips or techniques on getting this bolt loose?
by the way, on a 96 fuel filter the inlet and outlet are both on top of the filter if that helps.

I had the same problem. I have a 97 SH and I bought an AEM fuel filter through nopi. The bottom line is fixed so even when you remove the bracket you still can't pull the filter up to unscrew it. I eventually had to take it to a tune shop. The mech asked me where I bought the fuel filter from and I told him. He said that AEM doesn't make the fuel filter for the 97-01 Ludes. Nopi's E-cat is off. It was a good thing I took it to him because the AEM fuel filter was taller and wider than the oem one. But he altered the bracket to make it fit. So good luck on that.

What is a crow's feet tool?
In the Helms manual, it suggests crows feet. The other thing that will help is instead of using an open end wrench, go out and get a good set of line wrenches. Basically looks like a boxed end wrench with one of the sections cut out so that it can slip over the line then slide down around the nut. They provide maximum grip on all sides of the nut.
I just called the local Kragens and the guy had no clue what i was talking about. I guess im gonna be on a crows feet hunt this weekend

I have the answer!!! I did my 97' SH about a month ago. I tried and tried everything. I had one of my buddies help (Ford man) . He grabed his Ford rebuild tool ( Breaker bar about two feet long). What you do is put the correct size wrench on the bottom bolt...the one that is a pain. and but another wrench on the top of the filter (Should hold wrench to prevent any turning by the fuel filter). And what you do is stick the breaker bar in between the two wrenches and push or pull one way to make the wrenches go in the opposite direction. I am almost sure you push towards the passenger side. Can't remember. Now do it real hard and then it will break loose and there you have it. That's how you do it the poor man's way. Any questions im me.
