well here how it is i bought a car from an auction, but the thing is the car was shot up no one died in it just a bunch of bullet holes well anyway the vin on the door had a bullet hole threw that and the dash had a couple too,well......i fix the door where the vin number also sit but i couldn't save the vin and i replace teh dash with a use on i bought on ebay and it had no vin plate on it and the body shop threw my old one away with my old dash question is what will happen when i get pulled over will my car be impounded or what any help would be great thanks. pic can be seen at http://members.cardomain.com/laziebun
maybe try to contact Honda and see what t do about replacing a VIN that was taken from you without your knowing. they may be able to replace it or something.
Funny thing is I actually had court for that today. Except I bought an Integra with a different dashboard and a different VIN#, turned out when I got pulled over, they ran that VIN and I told the cop ahead of time thats not the right VIN, but he ignored me and ran it anyway, come up stolen, got my car impounded so the state police can check it, rest was fine, after 5 weeks of it sitting, car wasn't worth that much so I signed the title over and have my coupe now. So, the morle is, DON'T WORRY ABOUT THE VIN on the dash, the cops even told me I should have taken it off, the MOST they would have done is want to see the others and probably give you a hard time, but I highly doubt they'll impound for no VIN, expecially since what I just went through, had the integra for 5 days, paid $500, + $200 & title to sign over, + $500 in court fees today, $1200 down the drain for a car for 5 days cause I didn't pop that stupid plate off, hope you got something from all this, lol, goodluck, if anything, go to a engraving place and have one made a rivet it on

did you see what it turned out to look like?
Anyways You shouldnt have a problem My friend had dash changed over (from blue to black) And he had bought the dash froma friend, and got pulled, But he knew what the previous owners name was, so wqhen the cop ran it he could verify the previous owner. So i would just run down to a junk yard pull a vin off a totaled car and put it on your car. Then you should be straight.

not too sure about your state but try giving the police a call, ask for the auto theft detective and explain your story to him.
I'm in Hawaii and my vin got vandalized by thieves cops threatened to impound my car and thats what I had to do, they'll either give you some kind of stickers and paper work or they'll re-issue a vin# how that works I'm not too sure cause I'm still in the process of doing this.
Good luck
