Default Sorry for the OT: Saw my first Ford GT today.

It was red with white stripes.

Drool...

Even in traffic doing 30mph, this thing made me want to learn how to invest in the stock market wisely (if there is such a thing!). Simply gorgeous. My hat is totally off to Ford for having the guts to do this, because it represents so much more historically than the Viper did in Dodge's case with regards to the Cobra...

In the grand scheme of things, $150k for something that outruns car 3x and 4x the price is a steal in my book.

I have yet to see one...but man...that comercial that they have says it all. It's the official pace car for the entire company.

I saw it at the Cleveland Grand Prix last year. Very impressive car, but if I'm going to be spending 150k on a vehicle, its going to be a World Challenge car.

I got to watch one going through the paces at Barber Motorsports last winter. It was pretty impressive going around the track. It was one of the first ones to come off the "assembly line" but was still a pre-production model. I was lucky enough to visit the garage and meet the development guys. I remember smelling brake pads from 50 feet away as I approached the car. Nice folks and they were showing no mercy with the car. They were experiencing glitches with the car (including maybe two or three bad ECUs in two days) They were going through brake pads that day (seems like brembo calipers). I loved the original race car when it came out to whoop Enzo Ferrari's **** (yeah I am that old but I was a kid) and I think the re-creation of this street version is pretty faithful to the look and is kick ***.

That was probably an image thing. They want it to be in the "exotic" segment, so an $80k pricetag doesn't classify as exotic.

Also, I'd guess the limited production run of these things really drives the price up.

larry webster did a comparo of the gt40 to 2 other exoticars. (brand P and brand F?) he ran them around RA and they posted lap times for all three. None of them were as fast as a T1 Z06.

like someone said, the answer to many internet car board questions is a used Z06

i'm not sure that is a fair comparison; was the T1 Z06 times on race rubber and race pads? put the stock Z06 on its stock tires and stock brakes and then compare lap times.

probably a different outcome would result....

todd

ps i'd take any of the above as a gift!

I love the GT`s. Leno had his in the Borla booth which was next to us at SEMA. Pretty cool. We`re actually the OE supplier for the GT springs and anti-roll bars.

me too. The difference is I CAN afford a used Z06. The chance of me ever owning a GT40 is only slightly lower than the probability that I will be hit by lightening

oh, and by the way, check this out:

things might be a little more interesting in WCGT and GAGT next year.

"Better" as in...?

I would say the GT-40 definitely has more soul than the new GT... but from a technical standpoint I would rock the new GT.

I saw a red with white stripes too. It was in Huntington Beach making a left. The car's got quite a presence, I have to say!

I saw the same type Red with the racing stripe here locally. I just about broke my neck and tried to get my wife to stop and turn around
