Default my "sirius" installation last night...

just wanted to share my new setup....i am REALLY enjoying it....

JVC KD-AR5000---i bought this over an alpine9833 and pioneer8600, GREAT choice!
Infinity Kappa 6.5 components up front
Infinity Reference 6x9 rears
Rockford Fosgate P2 10" subwoofer in sealed-to-spec box
HiFonics Zeus ZX4000 amplifier (to the subwoofer)

......and, i just recently got a Kenwood KTCH2A1 (last years model) Sirius Satellite reciever WITH the car kit for $120.00 including tax at CarToys!

i had to cut the rear plastic out of the ash-tray pocket to fit the kenwood docking kit in the back

after about 2 hours of wiring and routing-antenna's, i finished my kenwood sat. radio kit, and now i'm enjoying some awesome streams

i researched ALOT of information on sirius vs. xm, and i found all of my preferences to be with sirius....xm is a bit cheaper though...

IMHO, sirius > xm

P.S. Sorry for the blurry pics, my camera doesnt have macro mode

I installed sirius about a month ago also Kicks ***. Are you a Howard Stern fan?

Is that the power supply you have plugged into the cig lighter?

I hard wired mine in. Gives it a cleaner look and you don't have to tie up the cigerette lighter.

If you had a went with an alpine cda9833, you could have used the new $80.00 SIRALP1 sirius/alpine box and antenna, have full control over the sirius through the deck and keep your ashtray.

Plus, the sound quality would have been better with the alpine, and because the sat. would be digital. It's analog now going through the FM modulated antenna. Looks nice, but that JVC will kick the bucket in a few months. I used to sell them at a shop, and they always came back...

I love satellite radio. Ive had XM for about 3 months and never listen to regular radio anymore. After looking into both XM and Sirius I went with XM mainly because my Alpine cda-9831 uses it. After using XM im glad I did. My favorite channel has to be the comedy channel 150. I do have to say that Howard Stern signing with Sirius instead of XM kind of bummed my out though. Oh well I guess Opie and Anthony will have to do.

fm-mod? lol, my jvc has an auxilary input, as seen in the pictures, so i'm streaming through digital channels dude.....

not only that, but the jvc IS sirius-compatible too, (for that alpine-sirius unit) so i can do the same thing you can do with your alpine with my victor-of-japan deck....

well, thanks for the comments, the sound quality is amazing, can't wait to go on long road trips

The Kenwood has RCA output? Sorry did'nt realize that. Most add-on sat. tuners use fm modulators

no prob bro, honda-tech is all about learning heheh...

i thought all it had was an fm modulator too until the salesman told me otherwise....on the cradle (in the back) there is an option for FM MOD or OUTPUT, so i used the RCA outs coupled to my JVC inputs......sound quality is far superior to that of the fm modulators....
