Some guy in Japan converted a Reynard (or was it a Lola or Gforce?) Mugen FNippon car into a street legal car. It was in Road & Track a few years ago. I'll post pics if I find that issue.

I agree. I guess the Radical SR4 is street legal in the UK as well.
