I HAVE A STORY THAT HAPPEND TO ME YESTERDAY.....
i'm back. hehhehhehehheheehhehehehe
after the last post i posted on civicboyzc's, i said i was going to purchase me a fuel pressure regulator...instead of buying the original stock fpr...i purchased me an adjustable fpr like it was mentioned from a few people.
put that on my 91 civic and the bogging seems to go away on 50/50 basis low end. my low end sucks. at a stop sign gunning it to its fullest bogging/hesitation starts to occur on the 2500 rpm-3000rpm. about 3100 rpm starts to pick up and no more bogging on the high end. the high end is perfect!!
ok here's the story that i have that happened yesterday. after dropping off my little brother to work yesterday...i was on my way home(still nervous..thinking my car might die out on me on the freeway). i was looking on my rear view mirror and i see this honda...i didnt know what kind of honda it was..(due to because it was at least 5 car lengths behind me). approaching me looked at my car and i looked at his..and i believe it was a 91 honda prelude.he sped up and cut infront of me turning his hazard lights on. then i high beamed him saying wtf??. within a 7 secs...speed starts to occur my car and his car. i was watching my speed and his speed.(from 65-75). then bam dropped it on 3rd gear!!!changed laned (on 80mph)and ...there i go pulling aside of him.....passing him up....he changed laned where i was and tried pulling the same sh@%*t at me...getting behind me but couldnt pull that trick (hehheehhehehe
) i was at least 3 car lengths ahead of him running 95mph on 3rd gear for 1/4 of a mile. slowed down and turned my hazards on saying....ok i won!...hehhehehehe. i was so shocked. i wanted to cry with joy in my face. he then turned his hazards lights on too after i was already exiting. got home and i said...damn all this hard work on my car for the past few months....its beginning to pay off.....heheehhee. but now i still got to eliminate that small bogging on the low end.
i set my psi to 55. if i put it below 40psi...the check engine light goes on and throwing code#1. do you guys think it might have to do with my fuel pump?? what should i be looking for when testing it?? all help is appreciated. thanks to all that helped me in the past.......props to all of you. MERRY CHRISTMAS!!

Your car is running too rich at idle.
That's why it's bogging at low RPM, and that's why you are getting a code 1
Code 1 is oxigen sensor, you are running too rich at low RPM and the sensor is sending a signal that doesn't match what the ECU is programmed to see.
Here is the deal with Fuel pressure regulators.
***Worthless on a Honda.***
The reason, is that a mechanical fuel pressure regulator does not discriminate between partial throttle and full throttle. your pressure goes up regardless.
That is the reason your car runs well up top but bad down low.
If you want to play with air/fuel ratios, get a fuel controller, like FIELD's or APEX.
Those controllers play with the injector's pulse width, so they stay open longer
and throw in more fuel. The APEX is a better unit since it lets you set the fuel at partial and full throtle, independently of each other.

wut kind did u buy first off and wut does the sohc vtec fpr regulate at i forget but depending on the fpr it could be a bad on still or ur pump im telling u it stoped my bogging and its way faster

what stopped your bogging???i have a focused adjustable fpr. i have it set at 55psi. if i turn it low..it starts to bogg more and check engine light goes on throwing code#1. fuel pump might be my next case...but i'm not sure if it is. if thats the case....i have to drive around town to bring my gas low to 1/4 of it so that way i wont have a hard time using 1 container for my gas. right now its at full.

You have the fuel pressure regulator set WAY high.
I have a 1.8 type R motor in my CRX, and I keep the pressure at 40 psi at idle and still runs rich.
There is something wrong with the FPR, I seriously doubt it's the pump.
If the pump were bad you would not be a ble to get 55 psi, at idle no less.

i'll try adjusting my timing tomorrow on the distributor.....but less than that..i'll set my pressure to 45psi. thanks

now what i'm about to do is try bringing the psi down to 40 that was suggested. wish me luck.
any other imputs that can help me out?? thanks in advance.
