Default How to keep your Boosted motor from blowing....

Well after I just fried my h22a1 with 95k on it, I have learned a few things that hopefully will allow me to preserve my new motor I am putting in soon ( jdm longblock)

Disconnect the PCV valve: A must, this just holds in pressure in the crank... which needs to be released

Hook up Wastegate right: spikes to 12-14 psi are fun, but not any good!

A newer motor hopefully wont have as much wear and tear...

Any advise or input on how to keep the motor for at least a year on 8psi? h22a

Instead of putting in another stock motor, build the one you blew so it can take all the boost you want to throw at it...

Stock motor or built motor, it's got to be tuned right. Some sort of engine management will help keep the fueling and ignition timing correct, as well as protect you from knocks. Have some good gauges so you know how everything is behaving too (I would suggest EGT, boost, and oil pressure).

it's gonna be even worse on that jdm motor. if i were you i wouldn't boost too much on it due to the high *** compression. like one of the other guys said. build the blown motor you have and for now you should just leave the jdm motor naturally aspirated if you don't want it to go as well.

its been tuned, it was running 9:1 a/f = fmu setup! Anyway it was due to wear and tear, spiking, and just the pressure itself.

I dont have the money to send the block off and build, if I could rebuild mine with stock pistons, new rings, and maybe thinker head gasket and studs, this would be good.

Is there any wrong in doing this, I dont know of anyplace that hones h motors here.

could I just not hone the block and put the stock size pistons in? It will not be spiking anymore, because I now have a boost controller.

Spend the money you were gonna use to buy the longblock and sleeve your old block and rebuild. Hmm 8lbs unreliable or 14lbs reliable its up too you.

turbo's = money. should of had thought of that before you threw a turbo onto a h22. high compression + weak ringlands + boost=bye bye engine.

whatever u plan to do, your engine still isnt going to last longwith high compression and your turbo in there...drop in some 9.0 compression pistons new rods sleeve the block..cost you about 2000 or so to get someone to do it..and ur basically fine..might of left some stuff out, but to lowering compression with a head gasket.

there is no way around it, you will have to build your motor sooner or later

I don't think you need to lose that FMU and invest into hondata/AEM EMS, and get it tunr before putting a new motor into the car. If you rans out of funds, your best bet is to get the turbo out and ran it with just the motor until you get the money for a standalone. To me FMU is not well tune no matter how much you tune it. I know the problem is boost spike but if you have a standalone ECU i'm sure you can ran 8 psi daily on H22

Sell the FMU and buy a Civic P28 computer. then use uberdata with properly sized injectors..

you dont need to spend lots of money if you want to have control over what your injectors AND timming are doing. just read and search.
