c5 unless the b20 was built. b20 bottom end wasn't made to rev like the vtec head or the c5 was made to.

I have a b20 vtec that makes as much power as a stock type r with more torque and more usable powerband.

I had a c5 swap then rebuilt it to a 2L and that **** is much faster! ET's on street tires were .5 seconds better eventually getting into the 13's...
The power of the 1.8 was 193/134
and the 2.0 was 194 and 145...untuned

2.0L owns the 1.8's

mine was an 89mm crank w/84mm bore(sleeved type-r block) with compression about equal as a stock ITR.

If your talking about a stock b20b block w/ a vtec head,id say go with a straight ITR engine. If you plan on building it up,I say go with something 2Liters. The extra torque will make you grin and youll be glad you did...

I'd rather have the C5 because it was handbuilt by someone that knows what they are doing.

B20 might end up making more power but will not be as durable. I would drive a b18c5 to the max all the time. I would be afraid to do the same to a modified b20.

C5, because you will be getting a beautiful gear ration on the tranny.
And will take alot more beatings before blowing.

Well, I've pretty much decided to go with a b20. I'm going to be completely rebuilding it so I don't think the "stock" flimsiness of the b20 is going to be a problem. And very good point about the ITR Tranny. That's why I'm probably still going to use the tranny
