Default CRX UK EDM JDM door panel , power windows dilemma

I am converting my CRX to have power windows. So first I found a set of the leather UK door cards that most of you are familiar with. I assume that they are identical to JDM ones as far as the size of the holes for the power window switches.
I was then planning on either doing some kind of conversion (that I don't know how to do yet, still searching) so the master controller was on the drivers side OR purchacing EDM switches that are already LHD.

The dilemma: The holes in the UK leather door cards are not the same size, and here I thought I had done all the research I needed before blowing $140+ shipping on them. If I aquire EDM or CDN switches I can widen my drivers side hole but I am then left with a larger hole and smaller switch on the passenger side! WTF! Is my only option to suck it up and purchace an entire EDM setup or is there another way?

I have not come this far on my build to have the master switch on the passenger side. Please someone help me out and I'll let you take a spin in the car when you visit Pittsburgh! Thanks guys!

well they are different sizes because the switches as youve seen are different sizes...all panels are like that wheter LHD or RHD, and the bigger hole is for the master switch...

what you can ultimately do is cut your now "driver" side slot so that the bigger switch will fit in it, and some how cover up the passenger side hole...

or you can buy true LHD leather door cards from holland/germany/spain, etc...

I'll pass on going to Pittsburg for a ride, but here is what I can throw out as far as information.

I picked up a set of JDM doors to do a similar power window conversion on my 89 Hatchback.

The "hole" on the drivers side is 9x2 1/4" and the one on the passenger side is 7 1/2x2 1/4". Ya, that poses a problem with just swapping the controls from one side to the other.

In addition to that, there may be problems with swapping the bracket that holds the assembly to the inner door skin.

What I'm going to do is disassemble the JDM door panels and only use the lower section. That way I will not have the hole that is for the door crank. I'll re-assemble the panels using the USDM upper door panel section.

I've already taken the JDM panels apart and it's not that hard to do. You just have to grind down the areas where they "melt" the pins of one panel to the other.

I've gotten Spal illuminated switches that I'll put in the center console (do a search on "spal 33040122"). The part number that I listed is for a "kit" that is two switches, connectors, and partial wiring. The switches are designed specifically for this installation and do not require relays to be added.

Thanks for the input so far. Yeah I realize that the holes are different because the master switch is larger. And I know I can mod the panel hole that is too small to fit the master switch. But it's the "and some how cover up the passenger side hole..." that would be messy.

The other method of using the bottom half won't work for me because the reason I bought these door cards is FOR the upper half with the black leather/red stitching that matches the rest of the interior. Also if I go with a Spal kit (I was thinking about it) I couldn't use the leather doorcards as the holes would be completely wrong to use USDM handles.

I know some have modded JDM switches to work with the master on the USDM drivers side, and I was wondering 1: how was the switch modded 2: how was the hole in the USDM passenger side door card modded.

I'll even let someone do a smokey burnout!

well for usdm panels, they just cut the hole to the size of the switch since the holes are smaller on non power window'd panels...

but usually on jdm paneled cars, i see them do it so main power is still on passenger side because of that hole...

time to ebay those panels and get a set of lhd ones form seti

if all else fails, get jdm switches and mount them up side down... I think it's possible to put the switches themselves up side down in the switch-plate, so that they would be correct anyway... but I'm nto sure about that...

you would have them on the right sides that way...

or just save up and buy EDM parts... will look better

Thanks again guys, but for future searchers on the subjet let's clarify: As far as turning them upside down you are still left with a larger hole on the passenger side. As far as CDN SE controls...yes that would be nice, but STILL left with a larger passenger hole.

I have already been in contact with Seti and at this moment I am SOL!

What I should of done was redo my USDM panels with black leather & red stitching (to match the pimp ITR wheel, SiR seats and shift ****) and get some EDM , CDN , or even the spal kit switches.

I am still waiting to hear from Phan and others who I thought had modded the panels and switches for sweet USDM use!

OK, now I will let you turn the boost to 16PSI and autocross the little bastard.

Yeah, I'm hoping that a shop can come up with a way to "fill the gap". In the meantime I want to find out how many others flipped the JDM switches and used them. Brakets fit? Ect. I don't care if the words are up-side-down thats an easy fix.

Maybe have a set of UK leather door panels for sale!
See how the right one has a longer hole than the left one.

sell them, kick yourself in the head, and you should've bought my 2 sets that had been sitting for MONTHS and sold for less then I wanted to.

In the meantime... kick yourself in the head again.

I'm already on the lookout for a set for you.
Or you could have your USDM top re upholstered.

Ohyeah...kick yourself in the head again.

Why does everyone think the CRX "SE" cars had power windows? They were super rare as an option on both the SE anD SI models. It was never some specail thing that only the SE had. In fact, most of them still had roll up windows too. I have seen on 2 Canadian crx's with them ever, and they were both Si models. The last 3 SE models i saw were all manual windows.

Deetz...did you recently purchace some EDM panels and switches? I saw that you were looking for them. BTW I knew that even SE's didnt comestock with PWR windows.

So do you have LHD PWR swicthes and panels?

I ordered brand spanking new power window switches and stuff that comes with them a while back for a couple of H-T members....

It'll set you back hundreds of dollars... but it was worth it. My own switches, wich are nice, looked awfully old and worn compared to those gorgeous new things.

I still have my jdm rhd switches and am not into mounting them upside down. I haven't got a good line edm switches yet, still looking. Even if i could get a single window switch for the pass side to get rid of the master control, that would be nice.

Btw, i checked with Honda Canada, there is absolutly no chance of buying new replacment switches even for people who have oem power windows now. Its too bad.

That's strange... Huh. Are the switches the same size? Is the master switch longer? I am really confused now. Unless the JDM door panels you have did not have power windows?

What do you think?

Good idea BTW with just ditching the master switch... A decent alternative.

Wait second here, new question burning, ARE JDM and UK switches the same???
EDIT: I have just looked at some pictures and have determined they are the same.

If that's so...it's modified by hand.

As I said in my prior post; the holes are a different length on the JDM panels that I have. The only possible thing that "may" be different is that the ones I have are for a Hatchback, not CRX.
