Question to all sixth generation 4-cyl accords!
What is your mileage thus far and what are your major complaints/problems. How is the transmission doing thus far? Any hard shifting like previous generations?
I have a 98 accord with 130k.
I have a 98 accord with 130k.
I have a '99 LX with 69,750 miles. I've had absolutely no engine issues (though I've done the maintenance by the book), and my 5-speed manual transmission, and my original clutch, are still going strong.
My main complaint has been a recurring problem with the locks (when I unlock one of the front doors or use the lock/unlock toggle on the door, some doors lock / unlock, some don't).
Oh, I put in an Alpine CD changer in my trunk right after I bought the car (Oct. of '98), hooked up to my factory tape player. It's still going strong also.

'98 EX here, with all of 34,000 miles! We inherited the car - my wife's aunt didn't drive much.
Complaint: I don't like automatic trannys, my daughters don't either. But this one hasn't broken (yet?)

98 lx with 114,xxx miles, My automatic tranny shifts hard for about 5 minutes in the morning, until it warms up. Other wise I couldnt be happier with my car.

87000+ miles
Wife hydrolocked the engine while we were out one night a few years ago on an unfamiliar road with poor lighting and a creek now flowing over the road surface!
Two cylinders needed new pistons and bearings. The other two were relatively unscathed (surprisingly). I even got the car running the next day, although things weren't all that smooth to be honest. Fixed by the dealer after claim to insurance company... and all has been fine since.
The automatic has been OK, the result of it not being Hondas 5 speed automatic! Also, I allow the car to warm up for at least a minute or two especially on cold mornings and change the ATF once a year (just a drain and fill operation).
Positive: Like many sewing machines, and the other 2 Hondas we own, it is flawless.
Negative: Lifeless and boring. Needs shocks, springs, something to make the thing more entertaining...
This changes one day a year when I park my 1993 Civic DX Coupe, which is a dedicated national-level SCCA autocross monster, and run the Accord in the Pine Barrens Express, a 150+ mile SCCA sanctioned road rally through the many forest trails and cranberry bogs of the State Parks in southern NJ.
Then I am thankful I have factory shocks and 5 inches of ground clearance!
