Default Anyone have experience with aftermarket stock replacement Cat converter?

Hey all,
Just wondering after some testing to my 91 Si it appears my smog problem is most likely my Cat. Ive been searching the internet and found various prices ranging from well over 500$ to right around 100$ from kragen.com. I was wondernig if anyone had and experience with these 100$ jobs and if they are even worth messing with. Part of me thinks there is no way they could sell these things if they didnt work properly, but the other part of me doubts their effectiveness just based on price. 100$ is for a "direct fit" flanged cat for me to install myself. Ive heard about 150 for a muffler shop to put on on but my biggest concern is spending all this money for no result. Thanks for any help.

I just put a resonator tube in my 89 civic, but it doesn't smoke excess until like 4500+ rpms... but if you just find an oem cat you should throw that on to get the emissions... if thats your concern.

internally all cats have to meet a minimum standard. They all should come with a warranty. I would get the cheap one. You can have the muffler shop install a universal cat with flanges welded on.
