Default safer bet 403 or 404 crowers

ive been lookin at the 403 and the 404 camshafts from crower. if i want the biggest power gain and safiest bet for reliability should i go with the 403's or 404's? im gonna get the spring and retainer kit and put that in. which should i go with?

Id prolly use the 403's in your setup. The 404's just seem a little too much for the low compression LS. Big cams dont just make huge gains by themselves...its all about matching the cams to your setup. That will provide you with the best gains IMO. Not to mention that your car seems like a daily driver...not that 404's cant be used in a DD...but the 403's will just be alot easier

i was origanally gonna go with the 403's but i didnt know if there was a difference in the compression. if i had more cash id put in high compression pistons but dont think ill make the cut. will a skunk2 intake mani. make much of a difference with that setup?

reliable in what way? they will both be just as reliable....If I were you I would just get 404s and mill the head to bump CR a little.

the car is my daily driver and when im at school and have to drive home then i have to drive 3 hours to get home. so i put on plenty of miles on the ole beast so i need it to last a while cause i cant afford a new car if nething goes wrong. thats what i mean by reliability. so do u think the mani. would make an effect power and sound wise on the car?

403's IMO! Take it from someone that used to drive an hour and a half to work and then 1 1/2 hrs back home everyday! 403's are best for daily driving!

deff. 403's ,if i were you , i would expect that if you buy a skunk 2 mani , you will gain top end but you will loose a little torque @low rpm because the runners are way shorter and have less degree for torque , but i have one and would not go back to stock , if you paid me ...

so ull think ill get my moneys worth in power and pull if this is the setup i go with:

Crower 403's
Crower springs and retainers kit
skunk2 intake manifold
hondata s100 tuned and tuned and tuned

thats about all i can afford until the summer. and i wanna by the parts soon cause if i wait my money somehow disappears. u know how it goes. so lemme know if that looks good or i should go another direction

I also recommend that you get a good header and exhaust system! This will be a nice setup for daily driving, however consider getting some PR3 Pistons, if not now then down the road or you will not get the full effect of the cams!

Good luck and let us know how it turns out!

i have the greddy 4-2-1 one piece header and full greddy exhaust just installed about three months ago so its all new exhaust. ill put some pistons in later but i dont have the money to get em right now. i hope this setup gives me some good gains

for build n the LS! 403's are pretty nice (i have em) i just need some PR3 pistons to up the compression. then maybe i can feel it kick a little harder. i might swap out the 403's for the 404's once i build the block and install a b16 tranny.
