kinda stupid, but does hand brake light ever come on when you boost hard ???
for some reason, mine does, not all the time though, it happened pretty rare, but everytime it lights up while I am boosting hard, it freaks the hell out of me....
it only happened when I am boosting from the line at 1st, 2nd and somtimes third gear...shifting at 8000 rpm...
is it a sticky hand brake springs ??

no, this indicates a problem. The first likely problem is that you are low on brake fluid. Check that, as the hard acceleration can cause it to slosh around, thus tripping the hand brake light (which also doubles as a low fluid light). Second thing to check, but is less likely, is the check valve coming from the manifold to the booster. If it's old and leaking, it could cause boost pressure to seep in there, and thus pushing the fluid down. This may also cause your brake pedal to push upwards, and could be pretty dangerous. DSM's have this problem sometimes, but its more likely just your brake fluid level
stan, are you having fun with boost? i still need to check out your ride!
John: I'll check on the fluid tomorrow morning...tia
Hell, it could be a good thing. Figure the forward G's that the car is pulling during acceleration. I remember my friends DSM, when he shifted into 2nd under hard boost the windsheild wipers would come on. Actually both his 1st gen adn 2nd gen would do this. Its basically the G's the car would pull under hard acceleration. Kinda funny whever I would race with him I would reach over and turn them off. Its different on those cars, on the right-hand lever of the column instead of twisting the arms you would pull it down.
****, maybe your pulling so many G's that when you are under hard acceleration the button would move back! That would be cool, but its prolly not your problem. Anyhow I would check your brake fluid in the reservoir.

hmmm, I bet once the turbo is in, it'll solve the problem...
yours might be a sticky spring..

**** - so i'm not the ONLY person with this same problem too huh?
My handbrake light goes on once the car starts pulling hard in *ANY* gear . Its real f*cked up. Even I nor my mechanics know what the hell causes that - I have sufficient brake fluid. Maybe there's a problem with the handbrake sensor or something. If you ever figure out what is causing the problem, let me know!
BTW, i'm driving a 1998 Civic EK sedan with a D16Y8 engine & ABS.
