90 Civic Starter on JDM Tranny.

90 Civic Starter on JDM Tranny.
I did got a JDM A/T tranny for my 90 civic. Everything fits perfectly, the only problem is that the starter does not catch the tourque converter when i try starting up the car. Would I need a JDM starter to make it work? Please help me out for those who know, I apreciate your time!
