I decided enough was enough, and gave my engine bay a quick, 10-minute detailing. I ended up running out of cleaner while in the middle of the job, so it didn't turn out as well as previous attempts, but it's alot better than before.
I use the following method, for those unfamiliar with it:
2 cans of Gunk Foaming Engine Brite, spray on cold engine liberally and let sit for 10 minutes. Then, hose off. Then use 1 can of FOAMING Armor All tire shine all over the engine bay. Close the hood and start the car, letting it idle for about 10-15 minutes. Open the hood to find your sparkling clean bay.
Here goes:
Before: Shameful
After: Much better, but still room for improvement
The subject:
Thanks for looking!

It really does if you follow it through.
I only had one can of the Gunk, and didn't have enough time to let it idle for very long with the Armor All, and it still came out pretty well.

I didn't cover anything, I just "tried" to keep it away from any exposed wiring and the alternator, obviously

No, it doesn't leave the parts very greasy.
If there is any residue left, you can give it a quick wipedown afterwards and it will be all good.

Nice Job rainforest.
Looks great!
I did the same thing this past weekend (Plus added some extra go fast & Bling parts), It only took 3 hours to make a complete turn around.
Wanna see my before and after pics?
